The Wagoneer nameplate has made its comeback for the 2022 model year under Jeep’s guidance, enabling a luxurious and spacious SUV with three rows of seating. More recently, the iconic 4×4 manufacturer subtly alluded to a potential electric version of the Wagoneer, which has been officially confirmed through a concept reveal. The highly anticipated electric Wagoneer will be hitting roads in late 2021 as the impressive 600-horsepower 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S.

Jeep has announced that the highly-anticipated premium Wagoneer S, powered entirely by electricity, will make its debut in the United States during fall 2024. After its initial release, the all-electric SUV will eventually become obtainable in major international markets; however, specific dates were not disclosed by Jeep. The upcoming launch of the Wagoneer S marks a momentous milestone for the brand as it will become Jeep’s first ever global battery-operated vehicle (BEV), separating itself from their traditional gas-powered off-road vehicles. While the current Wrangler 4xe already offers an electrified option, it should be noted that this particular model is essentially a hybrid.

Jeep has announced that the Wagoneer S will only be available as a BEV. According to the brand, their initial electric vehicle will come equipped with standard 4xe capability, advanced technology specifically designed for Jeep, and all-terrain management. It boasts exceptional performance, capable of delivering approximately 600 horsepower through its electric drive. As a result, the Wagoneer S can achieve a 0 to 60 mph acceleration in a remarkable 3.5 seconds.

As unveiled in its conceptual stage, the Wagoneer S departs from the traditional design and dimensions of its counterparts, all of which were launched as part of the brand’s revitalization. Notably, the Wagoneer S showcases a streamlined and more aerodynamic exterior. Moreover, the Wagoneer S will be released as a medium-sized SUV, featuring only two rows of seats. In contrast, the Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, Wagoneer L, and Grand Wagoneer L are large SUVs with the capability to accommodate up to three rows of seating.

Although Jeep has been mainly known for producing traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, the brand is now committed to a worldwide effort to electrify its fleet and achieve Zero Emission Freedom. The Wagoneer S is the earliest result of this initiative, as the brand strives to meet the net-zero carbon emissions goals set by its parent company through the Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan.
