Special Edition Unveiled to US Audience.
Today, Porsche debuted the premier 911 GT3 RS in the U.S.A., kitted out with the manufacturer’s much-anticipated Tribute to Carrera RS Kit. This was the initial time this edition was unveiled to the press corp in the flesh, but those attending the 12 Hours of Sebring event in March (15th – 18th) will be afforded the opportunity to feast their eyes upon it soon enough.
“This package pays tribute to the 911 Carrera RS 2.7, an absolute driver’s car and an icon,” declared Porsche Cars North America President and CEO Kjell Gruner. “The new 911 GT3 RS embodies the spirit of the original, utilizing advanced aerodynamics to generate remarkable speed. It is, without a doubt, the ideal homage to the 1973 classic.”
In August of last year, Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur unveiled a custom GT3 RS with a classic white body and green accents, reminiscent of the original Carrera RS 2.7. At the time, Porsche declared that this would “serve as inspiration” for a limited-edition offering that would be exclusive to American GT3 RS owners, and sure enough, in October, the company released the first images of the package.
The transformation from the first Exclusive Manufaktur edition to this latest package revealed a contrast in elements. Instead of the original wheels, the new one included GT3 RS rims. Additionally, a carbon bonnet was exposed and no roll cage was present – something which would have made its usage prohibited on US highways. Beyond those dissimilarities, nevertheless, the remainder stayed the same with no changes whatsoever.
Naturally, you get the Weissach Package that features loads of exposed carbon fibre pieces. However, there are other bonus elements to enjoy. For instance, valve stem caps have been particularly designed with a Python Green hue to coordinate with the wheels – a similar colour is rolled out for the key caps too. Python Green mirror inserts and designs can be found as well, and the underside of the back wing reads ‘PORSCHE’ in the same designer shade. To top it all off, the end plates on the wing show RS badges featuring the American flag. Not to forget, custom license plate frames accompany your purchase, in addition to two 1:43scale models (such as the 1973 Carrera RS and its more modern counterpart).
The interior of the car is illuminated with the “Tribute to Carrera RS” sill plates, and features an RS logo embossed on the center console, as well as green contrast stitching. Additionally, the keys will be painted white.
This exclusive bundle is only available to individuals who possess an order for a GT3 RS. All in all they will be paying at least $312,550 (adding a delivery fee of $1,450 would bring the sum to a greater amount) – a difference of nearly one hundred thousand dollars compared to the standard GT3 RS.
Delivery of customer orders is scheduled to commence in the near future.
