Quarter-mile in 8.55 Seconds: Record Smashed
After soundly out-performing Rimac on the fastest 0 to 60 miles per hour (mph) record, the Pininfarina Battista Hyper GT has established two new world records in the quarter-mile and half-mile categories. According to VBOX data systems calculations, the 1,877 horsepower electric hypercar was able to accomplish the quarter-mile distance in a blazing 8.55 seconds, surpassing the 8.582 second time scored by the 2022 Rimac Nevera.
The Battista traversed the half-mile distance in a dazzling 13.38 seconds, quicker than the time it requires for a Toyota GR Corolla to cover a quarter-mile — it is downright incredible!
Testing was carried out in India at the Indore Natrax facility and in conjunction with Autocar India, the car featured Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires so that a high speed performance could be achieved. Renuka Kirpalani from Autocar recorded a velocity of 357.10 kilometres per hour (221.89 mph) bestowing her with the reputable title of being the quickest Indian female driver worldwide.
These two new superior velocities were confirmed by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the Indian civil authority sanctioned by the FIA.
The Battista is by no means sluggish, however the Nevera has proven to be even more rapid, achieving a maximum velocity of 258 mph and procuring the designation of the fastest electrical manufacturing auto in the world. Pininfarina does have the speedier automobile, based on the recently established quarter-mile, lengthwise-, and 0 to 60 mph data. The Battista achieved 60 mph in just 1.79 seconds, an advance on the Nevera’s 1.85-second record, with 120 mph reached in 4.49 seconds.
“We were incredibly proud to bring the Battista to India for its inaugural visit,” said CEO Paolo Dellacha. “Our collaboration with our shareholder Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd was especially meaningful, given the timing of Automobili Pininfarina’s launch. Production of the Battista is set to begin in 2022 at our Atelier facility in Italy, with customer deliveries expected to start shortly thereafter.”
This year, Battista owners are thrilled to experience the unprecedented performance of this engineering marvel. According to speed records and independent tests, this new generation of hyper and luxury car, powered by electric energy, has demonstrated performance that is unattainable with internal combustion engines, a fact that has validated the creators’ ambition. “Battista is leading the way,” he added.
“Nothing can prepare you for the sheer power and speed of the Battista,” remarked Kirpalani, the driver who set the records. “It’s like being fired from a cannon. What’s even more remarkable is how quickly the Battista reaches its peak speed, within just half a straight of Natrax’s high-speed track. Even at VMax, the Battista felt incredibly stable, composed, and unassuming. This is the future of speed.”
