Chevy’s 6.2L V8: 455HP of Power
You won’t be able to overlook the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro when you attend this year’s Indy 500 tournament. The car manufacturer has crafted fifty festival vehicles to be used at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in order to market their product prior to the annual Great American Race.
Fresh from production off Chevrolet’s assembly line, these Chevy Camaro SS convertible festival cars come with a special option code. Concealed by 20-inch lightweight aluminum rims are the front and rear Brembo performance brakes that bring it to a stop. Under the hood, Chevy has equipped this model with their typical naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 engine providing 455hp and 455 lb.-ft. of torque. Furthermore, the power-folding top can be lowered at speeds of up to 30 mph.
Each Camaro SS Festival Vehicle sports a Sharkskin Metallic paint job that Chevy has highlighted using distinctive graphics to mark the 107th Indianapolis 500. Inside, the automaker has included comfortable Ash Gray leather seats.
Come Sunday, May 28th of 2023, the renowned Indianapolis 500 will commence. An poignant moment for many loyal sports fans as the venerable Chevrolet Camaro is signified to cease production after the 2024 model year. Though Chevrolet has consented it won’t be the last sighting of the Camaro[s] name, no extra information has been provided thus far.
Chevrolet will be finishing production of the Camaro with a Collector’s Edition variant, which won’t arrive until later. The 2024 edition of these vehicles will arrive available during this year. If you’d like one of the 50 Indy 500 Festival Cars, as per Chevrolet spokesperson Kevin Kelly when he was speaking to Automotive News, they are going to go up for sale after the race.
For six decades, the Chevrolet Camaro has often been the one to lead and pace the esteemed race. Its most recent role as the official pace car came in 2016 – when it was also showcasing its fifth- and sixth-generation models. Notwithstanding, the Corvette took over since then, with the newly unveiled Corvette Z06 helming the event in 2020.
