I was raised during an era when the C6-generation Corvette symbolized road racing in the United States. The YouTube channel 19Bozzy92 had a close encounter with the C6.R, chassis 001, at a recent Endurance Racing Legends Championship at Mugello Circuit in Italy. This particular Corvette was driven by Jan Magnussen and famously competed against Jörg Bergmeister in the Flying Lizard Porsche at Laguna Seca in 2009, resulting in one of the most unforgettable finishes in racing history.
Following the race, chassis 001 underwent repairs and went on to participate in the complete 2010 American Le Mans Series as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans that year. Subsequently, it was purchased by a private team and brought back to Le Mans in 2011, achieving victory in its category. Presently, the vehicle is being privately raced at various events across Europe.
The magnificent 5.5-liter V-8 engine still emits a glorious sound, just as it did more than ten years ago, standing out above all others in its class.
