Outlandish Jeeps at Moab Showcase!
2023 will be the 57th annual running of the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. The event will draw approximately 20,000 off-road fanatics, with Jeep taking center stage presenting seven distinct concept cars. Of these vehicles, three are plug-in hybrids and a single all-electric concept which we have had previous experience of.
These all constitute concept-autos which you won’t be able to purchase at dealerships, however, some are made in order to highlight the wealth of Jeep performance parts available to consumers, making them obtainable according to just how much a person wishes to customize. Now, let’s explore the rock-crawling group for the current goings-on.
By far the most noteworthy concept in this group, the large and lavish Grand Wagoneer definitely provides plenty of space for leisure. This concept highlights a Skyloft pop-top roof equipped with bedroom quarters for two, able to be accessed from the interior through a newly placed rear sunroof. Subsequently, the seating for three is substituted with bean bags and a truck bed liner flooring in the back. 35-inch tires are set within bigger wheel arches featuring customized extensions, along with a 1.5-inch lift assistance to help the full-size SUV tackle rough terrain.
Back in 1978, the possibility of a hybrid Jeep was nonexistent – yet this restomod shows us a different reality. Reimagined with the powertrain from today’s Wrangler Rubicon 4xe, comprising of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, plus an 8-speed automatic transmission and 4:1 transfer case, it is equipped to handle any terrain. Its 37-inch tyres atop 17-inch mag styled wheels look aesthetically pleasing, as does its showroom-ready paint job featuring classic yellow hues paired with eye-catching orange stripes.
Ruminating on the concept of bell bottoms, the original Scrambler was first introduced in 1981 as a small truck. Sadly, it is doubtful that there will be a new model with the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine from the Wrangler Rubicon 392 anytime soon. This concept envisions a two-door design (without actual doors) based upon the four-door Wrangler, including custom carbon-fiber body panels, broader fenders, sleek lightweight bumpers and air suspension which can be regulated between 1.5 and 5.5 inches of elevation. Consequentially, this makes way for 40-inch tires.
Recent reports report that the all-electric Jeep Wrangler is appearing on its third voyage to exotic landscapes. Initially debuted in 2021, this iteration of the Jeep Wrangler retains a single electric motor with adjustable strength ranging from 285 to 650 horsepower. An innovative two-stage power regen mode has also been incorporated – normal mode allows drivers to operate the vehicle naturally while the switchable option is available to conserve energy during braking. Further improvements include a modified hill descent mode under low range facilitating one-pedal operation and slight body alterations for greater ingress/egress capacity. Additionally, the B-pillar is shifted for custom roll bar incorporation, window angle lessened 12 degrees, and an exclusive Magneto concept colour job.
The Sideburn Concept is a true off-roading machine, ready for intense exploration. It comprises a variety of accessories to offer more performance and utility, such as a specially designed bed containing integrated storage and brackets for carrying liquids. In addition, there’s a foldable bench incorporated in the distinctive grille shield, complemented by 11″ detachable LED headlights on the roof. To provide extra space for cargo, there’s an alloy and carbon fiber supporting stanchion between the cab and cargo compartments and it is fitted with half doors. The inside has many ornamental enhancements, finished with a two inch lift kit and 37″ tires.
The final two aspects are born of actuality, beginning with the Departure Concept. This navy blue off-roader centers around exterior excursion with paraphernalia in abundance from Jeep Performance Pieces. It comes equipped with tube doors, plain fenders, the same flexible tube grille defender found on the Gladiator Sideburn Design, header mounted LED off-road beams that can rotate when the windshield is folded down, and rock lamps at all four corners. A cunning tube entrance at the rear presents different postures for the emergency tire while amplifying storage area. The internal also has several space maximize upgrades. Down below, you’ll spot a 2-inch lift with 37-inch wheels.
Nestled at the renowned Easter Jeep Safari lies the stunning pink Jeep. Inspired by the 2021 limited-edition Tuscadero Wrangler, custom black accents further accentuate its exterior along with a personalised graphic upon the bonnet. Working in conjunction with its adjustable air suspension which makes way for 37-inch tires atop black 17-inch wheels, borrowed from the Scrambler 392 concept, this all-terrain vehicle serves as an eye-catching piece.
The 2023 Easter Jeep Safari will take place from April 1 to 9 at Moab, Utah.
