Goodwood Revival: Sept. 6-8, 2020
In 2024, the legendary Goodwood Revival will beathe first of its kind: all thirteen races held during the weekend will utilize only sustainable fuel, thereby penning a new chapter in the history books.
The competitions will feature a selection of classic motor vehicles such as the Jaguar E-Type, Ferrari 250 SWB, and the renowned Ford GT40 which holds an impressive 8-figure price tag today. In addition, traditional Formula 3 cars and motorcycles will be present; specifically the Matchless G80 CS, Vincent Black Shadow, and Manx Norton.
Goodwood has declared that the competitions for the 2024 Revival will include the Sussex Trophy, Madgwick Cup, Goodwood Trophy, Barry Sheene Memorial Prize Part One, Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy, Whitsun Trophy, Fordwater Trophy, St. Mary’s Trophies Part One, Earl of March Trophy, Richmond & Gordon Awards, RAC TT Celebration, Glover Trophy, and Freddie March Memorial Trophy.
Entrant racers at the 2023 Goodwood Revival Rudge-Whitworth Cup will be running their vehicles with no less than 70% of components certified by the FIA as eco-friendly. The fuel will ensure that the powertrain remains as is, guaranteeing incredible acceleration outcomes. In a groundbreaking achievement, Ben Collings and Gareth Graham steered their 1925 Bentley Speed Model to become the inaugural sustainable fuelled champion after outperforming its peers which drove using typical fuel.
Last year’s Goodwood event included additional eco-friendly competitors, including former Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel who drove his 1992 Williams FW14B and 1993 McLaren MP4/8. The most recent Fordwater Trophy also featured pre-1966 Porsche 911 vintage sports vehicles that operated utilizing sustainable fuel.
Utilising sustainable fuel on the inaugural 2024 Goodwood Revival is likely to spark further adoption of this technology at historic racing events. Although, it may not be instantaneous, the industry is determined to become increasingly carbon-neutral over time. In addition, Porsche are currently innovating synthetic fuel that can be used in road automobiles, providing a possible solution for keeping combustion engines active in the years ahead.
The artificial fuel-powered 2024 Goodwood Revival shall transpire from September 6th until the 8th of 2024.
