A spokesperson from the Petersen Automotive Museum has responded to our queries with the following statement:
“The museum’s internal fundraising policies prevent us from disclosing the amount of winning bids or the names of winners for any of the auction items at Saturday night’s Gala,” said a representative, “however, we can confirm that the total amount raised was $2.5 million, which will go towards supporting the museum and its educational initiatives.”
“The lucky recipient of Tesla’s latest innovation will be the proud owner of a low-VIN Cybertruck,” said the spokesperson. “This vehicle will be delivered to the winning bidder as soon as Tesla wraps up production.” She went on to say that this is a great opportunity for someone to get their hands on the newest model before anyone else.

An early 2024 Tesla Cybertruck was apparently sold at the Petersen Automotive Museum’s 29th Gala for an astounding $400,000, according to several posts that circulated on social media in the wake of the function recently concluding.
In other words, this could purportedly be the pioneer of Cybertrucks that are purchased, with the electric truck yet to be handed over to the probably two million reappointment holders who are waiting for the zero-contamination pickup to go into full-scale manufacturing, a process that has been postponed multiple times since the model’s introduction in November 2019.

It is noteworthy that although the price tag of $400,000 was significant, the first GMC Hummer EV SUV sold at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction on January 28 collected an even larger sum in its sale – $500,000. What’s more, the very 1st GMC Hummer EV pickup truck fetched a tremendously hefty $2.5 million a whole year before this, in 2021.
Reports have recently surfaced regarding the potential emergence of the Cybertruck from its manufacturing phase. Apparently, several units labelled as “manufacturing confirmation” lately were sighted within the parking lot at the Texas Gigafactory, providing evidence that the upcoming delivery-spec electric vehicles coming off the production line may soon be realized. However, this theory has not yet been verified.
