Unveiling of the CLA Class Production Model Set for This Year
A new advancement in the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class has been caught by photographers during winter testing. This prototype appears to be an AMG version with a more athletic look, including a striking spoiler at the back. This sighting comes shortly after another spotting of two Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class sedans by CarBuzz spies, confirming that the Concept CLA Class will have both gasoline and electric versions available for production.
It is unclear if the spotted prototype is powered by gasoline or is the electric EQA EV model. However, we are certain that AMG has something in the works for the more potent CLAs.
Mercedes-Benz has succeeded in concealing the test prototype, although the circular light features (both in the front and back) from the initial design were unable to escape the watchful gaze of our photographers.
The disguised features hint at a ducktail design for the back aerodynamics, however, we can anticipate an enhanced and more appealing version concealed beneath the heavy camouflage wrap, possibly with active features. The prototype also boasts other athletic characteristics such as the larger dark wheels, distinct from the silver ones previously captured by our spies. The brakes seem to be of bigger size as well, and the fenders appear to have a wider stance compared to the previous sighting.
In the meantime, a more detailed examination of the front bumper reveals a bolder design for the dynamic CLA. The ventilation openings now stretch to the bumper’s perimeter, hinting at a potentially larger lower intake for improved cooling in the AMG variants. Unfortunately, due to the inclement snowy conditions, we were unable to determine if the exhaust was protruding from the rear.
The upcoming models of the CLA Class and EQA from Mercedes-Benz will be built on the fresh Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, boasting an impressive range of 466 miles as per the WLTP standard and an energy efficiency of 5.2 miles per kWh. This new platform also incorporates an 800-volt electric vehicle infrastructure, enabling rapid charging of up to 249 miles in just 15 minutes.
In addition to the Concept CLA Class production model, three fresh motors will emerge on the identical platform, specifically the electric alternatives to GLA-Class, GLB-Class, and the CLA Shooting Brake which is not available in the US market.
Anticipate the upcoming unveiling of the CLA Class and its electrified variations by Mercedes-Benz in the coming months. It remains unclear if the more athletic AMG editions will make their debut alongside, but as time passes, more details will be revealed.
