Upgraded Model: Fresh Color, Enhanced Safety Features, Minor Price Increase
In 2024, Toyota’s executive sedan that runs on hydrogen fuel has received several improvements. The Mirai now boasts subtle alterations to its specifications, a fresh exterior hue, and other small modifications.
The latest update to Toyota’s lineup brings with it some major updates, the most noteworthy being the inclusion of Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. This comprehensive package of driver assistance features includes dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure assist, a pre-collision system, road sign assist, automatic high beams, and a variety of other helpful tools. These added features work alongside an already impressive lineup of safety measures such as eight airbags, a blind-spot monitor, and a rearview camera.
A fresh external coat of paint has been incorporated, offering Elemental Silver as a color option for all trim variations. The 2024 model of Mirai will also bear the ‘Beyond Zero’ emblem, symbolizing Toyota’s pledge to lower carbon footprint. Additionally, Mirai Limited editions now come equipped with Digital Smartphone Key Capability, enabling owners to access their vehicles with their mobile gadgets. This feature is included in the XLE model’s Advanced Technology Package.
Both versions come fully upgraded. The Mirai XLE offers a SoftTex-trimmed cabin complete with heated and power-adjustable front seats. Included as standard are dual-zone air conditioning, LED headlights, a 14-speaker JBL audio system, and a wireless charging pad for devices. For extra convenience and safety, the Advanced Technology Package includes front and rear parking assistance as well as a panoramic camera display.
Upgrading to the Limited model grants you access to the following features: a three-zone climate control system, a panoramic glass roof, and ambient lighting in the interior. The option of 20-inch wheels is also available. Starting at $50,190 ($49,500 from last year), the Mirai XLE’s price point may seem steep, but the Limited version comes in at $67,155 ($66,000 in the previous year). While some may view this as a hefty amount for a Toyota vehicle, owning a Mirai offers numerous advantages.
The package comes with a ToyotaCar maintenance arrangement covering three years or 35,000 miles, as well as an eight-year or 100,000-mile warranty for designated fuel-cell parts of the FCEV. Additionally, three years of roadside assistance with no mileage limitations are also incorporated.
If you can manage without the minor enhancements offered on the 2024 version, there is a fantastic deal to be found for earlier models.
Get your hands on a 2023 Mirai through a leasing plan before March 31, 2024 and you’ll be in for a treat – Toyota is throwing in three years’ worth of free fuel, up to a maximum value of $15,000. If you decide to buy the Mirai before the said date, the offer gets even sweeter with an extended fuel coverage of six years. It’s essential to mention, however, that this impressive deal is only applicable in California as the availability of hydrogen refueling stations throughout the country is not yet widespread.
As opposed to a traditional electric vehicle, the Mirai operates on a fuel cell rather than relying on batteries for its electric motor. However, it may not offer a very swift performance as it only generates 182 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, resulting in sluggish acceleration. With a 0-60 mph time of 9.2 seconds, it may not be the ideal choice for those seeking a speedy ride.
The scope is remarkable, however, according to Toyota’s statement, the XLE trim offers an exceptional 402 miles of range. In contrast, Toyota’s bZ4X, an all-electric model, only has a maximum range of 250 miles which significantly decreases in low temperatures. Apart from utilizing fuel-cell technology, Toyota is also actively developing hydrogen-powered combustion engines for future release.
Pricing does not include the $1,025 destination fee charged by Toyota.
I completely agree with your points. Well said!
