New e:N Models Join Range
Honda is about to unveil two all-new electric prototypes at the Shanghai International Auto Show in April. These cars will be the second set of the e:N Series EVs that Honda has agreed to manufacture. The carmaker has recently released the e:NS1 and the e:NP1, both being available in China, as well as the e:Ny1 based on the HR-V which intends to have a presence only in Europe.
Honda’s technique for electrification diverges in many ways from the approaches of other car makers. In addition to partnering with GM to introduce new automobile models such as the Prologue SUV, it has also conjoined with Sony to fabricate electric cars through the Afeela label. Alongside the electric vehicles being sold by its Chinese part, the organization’s strategy is truly remarkable and curious to observe how it transpires in the future.
We speculate that these two novel ideas might be exclusive to China, though the firm has affirmed a willingness to extend them beyond the Chinese market. In 2020 we dug up proof of the corporation’s design to introduce multiple e:N versions to Europe, as evident by their registration of those titles. It remains unclear if this same practice will be implemented in America, however it appears Honda is likely to make use of its existing catalog of names for electric vehicles offered in the States, given the new Prologue EV nomenclature.
The e:N series naming convention may not be the most elegant, but Honda explains it as symbolizing “Honda’s desire to energize people who are attempting to do things based on their own initiative in this time of electrification.”
With the automotive industry quickly transitioning to electric vehicles, many companies are touting why their EVs are superior. However, there are only so many ways to express that a product is “exciting” and “the next big thing”. Nevertheless, each company is doing its best to demonstrate why their electric vehicles are the best option.
At the gathering, Honda will be unveiling three e-bike models, its upgraded Honda Connect 4.0, and an updated edition of the Honda Sensing 360 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Nevertheless, the two concepts are taking center stage. The carmaker has revealed nothing more than the shadowy figures of those cars, but it’s pretty evident they’ll be SUVs of some types. They mentioned that this is the global launching of their e:N series of EVs, hybrids, and plug-in autos – so Honda may exhibit a variety of each.
The press conference for Auto Shanghai 2023 is just around the corner with its launch being on April 18, so they shall be discovering the news soon.
