Securing the Privilege: Earning Your Right to Purchase at $43,000 USD
Japan has a plethora of exclusive WRX variants, and Subaru has recently unveiled their latest addition to the lineup. The WRX S4 STI Sport still features the controversial plastic paneling but boasts some fresh athletic upgrades. While it is not a fully-fledged STI version, there are no changes to its power capabilities. However, it does come with a more assertive body kit and brand new 19-inch BBS forged wheels on both front and rear axles.
Sporting a striking Offshore Blue Metallic paint job, which was taken from the Levorg STI Sport wagon that is not available in America, this high-performance sedan rolls on Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires with a size of 245/35 R19. It boasts black enhancements on the front grille, side mirrors, and trunk lid spoiler, giving it a distinctive appearance. Even the badges and roof antenna showcase a sleek black finish. The Offshore Blue Metallic hue of this sports sedan is borrowed from the Levorg STI Sport wagon, which, unfortunately, is not offered in the United States. The vehicle features Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires that have a measurement of 245/35 R19. Apart from its head-turning color, the sedan also stands out with its black accents adorning the front grille, side mirror caps, and trunk lid spoiler. The dark theme continues with most of its badges and roof antenna also receiving the same treatment.
The interior modifications are constrained to two snug Recaro front seats featuring bold STI logos stitched onto the headrests. Additionally, silver stitching has been thoughtfully incorporated throughout the cabin. The soft and luxurious suede material used for the seats can also be found on the center console, armrests, and dashboard. Subaru boasts about the improved sound level in the interior due to the inclusion of additional vibration-reducing material in the spare tire storage area.
The source of force is derived from the identical turbo 2.4-liter fuel engine, producing a remarkable output of 271 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. This power is transmitted to all four wheels through a continuously variable transmission. Despite no significant increase in horsepower, Subaru has made certain adjustments to the mechanics. Alongside the wheels, the WRX S4 STI Sport boasts bulkier strut and sway bars and an improved transmission cooler to enhance its overall capabilities.
The limited edition WRX is set to have a production run of only 500 units. Subaru expects a high demand for the vehicle, and therefore, has decided to utilize a lottery system to determine its lucky owners. In Japan, where the S4 STI Sport is exclusively sold, interested customers can obtain a lottery ticket beginning today until the 28th day of this month. The fortunate ones chosen to purchase the car will be revealed on February 1st.
Purchasers will need to shell out a sum of 6,237,000 yen, equivalent to $43,000 based on the present conversion rate.
