Coolest Prototypes on Road Tests this Week
Motor1 puts out photos of upcoming cars regularly. In case any of the recent discoveries have gone unnoticed, we have collected all of the experimental models noticed during the previous week in this summary.
This undercover footage captured a new Audi S5 Sportback being tested in the environs surrounding the prestigious Nürburgring race track in Germany. Evidently, the car is wearing its final version of body panels and headlights. It is anticipated that the regular A5 will debut by 2024, with the S5 arriving shortly afterwards.
BMW is in the process of manufacturing the 5 Series estate car for the purpose of law enforcement in Germany. The example we encountered bore the colors of blue, yellow and white of the German Police at the front, whilst the back was disguised with a camouflage vinyl wrap.
Once more, the upcoming Ferrari hypercar has been caught by the lenses with a unique polka-dot disguise. Boasting a fierce aerodynamic blueprint with expansive air intakes in the front end, an immense vent on the bonnet, inlets on the hindquarters wings and a large rear wing, this test vehicle showcases butterfly doors. It is said that the supercar’s unveiling is anticipated for 2024 and a manufacturing of 599 coupés, 199 convertibles and 30 versions of the XX are projected to be made.
It looks like an upgraded Ford Maverick could be on the horizon, sporting a potential ST badge. Sources describe it as being outfitted with tailpipe modifications, which would intimate that powertrain modifications have been made. Bigger wheels were also in tow, with an estimated size of 19-inches – larger than what’s currently available for the same vehicle. It is still to be determined as to when it will likely launch, however there are already test prototypes on the roads, placing the arrival time and date within the earlier portion of 2024.
Rolls-Royce is reinventing the Cullinan with a few tweaks. Suggestive evidence points to the most prominent alterations being at the front, beginning with new headlights and a modified fascia. At the back, there are minor tweaks to the bumper. Unfortunately, the images don’t indicate what, if any, tech enhancements are in store or if the V12 engine will acquire hybrid assistance, thereby reducing pollutants and improving mileage.
Volkswagen appears to have completed their overhaul of the Golf, and recent spy shots are providing us with a sneak peek of the next generation wagon. This model results in little disguise, which indicates a refreshed collection of lamps. Within, a more spacious infotainment system can be found. As yet, no specs have been disclosed but the eTSI badge on this particular model implies it will be furnished with an efficient mild-hybrid powertrain.
