Mazda2 and CX-3 Receive Bigger Infotainment in Japan

Revamped Design for Aging Models

It may have taken some time, but Mazda has finally seen fit to offer the 2 and CX-3 a long-awaited infotainment update. Replacing its outdated and antiquated system, both the supermini and the subcompact crossover will be boasting a state-of-the-art 8.8-inch screen. Connected services are also on the menu in this new incarnation. Unfortunately, other than the display having been enlarged, this arrangement still exists as a tablet lodged in their dashboard rather than being seamlessly incorporated. Initially available on models coming out at the 2024 Model Year in Japan, we remain hopeful that it’ll stretch to all regions eventually.

The CX-2 and CX-3 were amongst theFinal fragments ofMakes to hold onto the former-gen infotainment, which persists to be presentin The 6 sedans/wagons and MX-5. Speculation is that the rear-wheeled sports car will shortly be obtaining a facelift (ND3) with an upgraded multimedia system, likely to be the 8.8-inch display. At the same time, nothing has been emphaticallystated as yet.

Previously referred to as “Demio” in Japan, the 2024 Mazda2 is actually the previous-generation model, since Mazda has been offering the newer Toyota Yaris-based Mazda2 Hybrid in Europe for a while now. This switch to a new infotainment system means the B-segment hatchback will be sticking around for a while longer, despite it being due to celebrate its 10th anniversary next year. In addition to the new infotainment, it also features an array of quirky accents.

The CX-3 has had a notable history, first appearing in 2024. Mazda USA stopped production of the vehicle after the 2021 model year, yet it remains available in multiple countries even though the CX-30 was unveiled by Mazda in 2019. In Japan, they are launching a fresh version of the CX-3; a Vivid Monotone Limited Edition, which offers aesthetic updates plus an upgraded 1.8-liter diesel engine.

Mazda’s 2 and CX-3 will both be available on local soil in the near future. With a planned launch date for the 2 in December of this year, and the CX-3 following in February 2024, consumers can choose between gasoline and diesel engines, a variety of manual and automatic transmissions, as well as front or all-wheel drive.
