Racer Honors McLaren F1 GTR at Indy 500.
Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team driver Pato O’Ward is back on screen to demonstrate the power of the British automaker’s supercars. He already showed off his skills with the McLaren 620R at Willow Springs Raceway in California, and now he’s taking the McLaren 765LT Spider for a spin in “The Challenger Spirit.”
“The Challenger Spirit” is a one-minute video created by The Outbound Life, a production firm specializing in creative storytelling. This footage highlights the significance of this spirit when it comes to achieving success in life. Bruce McLaren and Ayrton Senna are said to have embodied this spirit, which ultimately enabled them to become champions.
“The Challenger Spirit is a quality that can’t be taught – it’s either in you or it’s not,” declared O’Ward in “The Challenger Spirit” video. “It’s something that’s ingrained in your core, propelling you to strive further than anyone else.” These are wise words that should be taken to heart by all those striving for greatness.
The other day, a 24-year-old driver stepped on the gas in his McLaren 765LT Spider and accomplished something truly remarkable: right outside of a donut shop, he did figure eights! Powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 power unit, this dazzling car can generate 755 horses and 590 lb-ft of torque – allowing for an acceleration time from 0 to 124 mph in just 7.2 seconds.
Right before this weekend’s Indianapolis 500, Arrow McLaren released a video introducing the one-of-a-kind paint schemes its three cars will be sporting in honor of the Triple Crown. Wowing onlookers in particular is number five Indy race vehicle of Patricio O’Ward which takes inspiration from the victorious 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans McLaren F1 GTR by bearing a full black coat.
His colleagues, Felix Rosenqvist and Alexander Rossi, will go out with paint jobs paying homage to the iconic McLaren MP4-2 (1984 Monaco Grand Prix) and M16 (1974 Indy 500), respectively.
O’Ward presently functions as the runner-up in the NTT IndyCar Series rankings with 168 points up to the Indianapolis 500. Rumors have been going around that he is also an enthusiast favorite of the campaign.
Besides participating in IndyCar, McLaren will also employ a Trio Crown paint scheme for the impending Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.
