Building the Next-Gen Vehicle: Cool, Beautiful, and Utilitarian
The Q3 2023 earnings meeting revolving around Tesla was evidently dominated by the buzz of the Cybertruck, with a variety of shareholders and experts mostly inquiring about the activity associated with making the electric pickup truck.
Elon Musk has urged that people “temper expectations about the Cybertruck,” noting that it “will take a year to 18 months before it is a significant, positive cash flow contributor.” He attributed the product’s elaborate intricacies as the cause for the slow production ramp.
Fortunate for Tesla, a fresh platform is allegedly going to be implemented that would serve the base of their entry-level electric car worth $25,000 as well as their robotaxi. This new system would be immensely easier to manufacture, according to Musk’s claims.
When queried if they could anticipate a ramp like the Cybertruck should they expect, Musk revealed that the upcoming iteration of the model is much more conventional than the original since there are not many fresh elements coming up with this new iteration.
“The next-generation car is more traditional in terms of volume and cost,” Musk declared. “We are doing all we can to make this vehicle as simple as possible, aiming for a production rate that has never been seen before in the automotive sector.”
Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, had some comments to make about the design of the upcoming vehicle. He called it “cool,” “beautiful,” and “utilitarian.” Musk went on to explain that the design would be practical and functional, yet aesthetically pleasing. He also noted that the car would take into account the needs of the everyday driver.
“It will be quite practical, yet still aesthetically pleasing. It’s not intended to leave you in awe and amazement, but rather to serve its purpose of transporting you from one place to another. Despite this, it is still beautiful in its own right.”
In response to an inquiry about the timetable for the new-model car, Musk underlined that Tesla is currently not able to make any announcements.
Tesla restated its ambition of crafting the advanced automobile at their new Giga Mexico depot, underlining that they are striving to put in place the infrastructure and layout of the mill concurrently with the design of the modern product that is due to be created there.
Tesla refrained from making any declarations regarding purported designs to switch the starting structure place for its advanced Electric Vehicle (EV) from Mexico to Austin, as was documented in Walter Isaacson’s biography of Elon Musk.
“Elon Musk did say Tesla is taking a cautious approach with the new factory, though. ‘In Mexico, we’re laying the groundwork to begin construction, yet I feel that we should get a good understanding of what the global economy is like before we go all-in on the Mexican facility,'” he stated.
He expressed his concern, saying, “I’m worried about the high interest rate environment that we’re in.” He went on to explain that if interest rates stay high or even increase, it will be more difficult for individuals to buy a car since most vehicle purchases involve some form of financing.
