Farewell, R8.
Audi is giving the R8 a proper sendoff with a special video created by its fans. Recently, the automaker took to its social media pages to solicit help in making the last video for the legendary car, which they titled “The Last Lap.”
The locale, movements, time period, and even the musical score had all been attentively selected. The company magnificently adheres to its dedication by producing a video that completely does justice to the car’s grand finale.
The video showcases a bit of all things, evidently to please the fans who asserted that the business must totally commit to its middle-engine wonder. Gorgeous cityscapes, the racetrack, and arid desert landscapes come alive in every light of the day, as the organization flaunts the greatest parts of both versions of the sporty automobile, in a thrilling manner: barreling away full speed!
The inaugural vehicle revealed was the 2008 Audi R8, powered by a 4.2L V8 and equipping a magnificent six-speed gated manual transmission. This auto established the precedent of excellence.
Kicking off powerfully, the firm backs up before rotating and accelerating down the city’s lanes. That follows on to another highly prized original, a 2012 R8 GT, as it speeds around what vaguely resembles Willow Springs Raceway during sunset.
The 2012 R8 GT was a considerable force to be reckoned with upon its initial release. Increased muscle was found in the 5.2-liter V10, while simultaneously shedding weight. The transmission used was Audi’s R-Tronic seven-speed automated manual, as demonstrated by the driver taking it around the track with dramatic speed and zooming sideways.
Our subsequent thespian is a touch junior, but every bit as impressive. Peering high above the Los Angeles horizon, we observe our chauffeur spray-painting his favorite creation, a 2023 Audi R8 Performance Quattro. The 5.2L V10 powering its rear wheels combined with the 7-speed S-Tronic transmission enables him to take in the sights of the metropolis during the twilight hour.
The car is shortly accompanied by the pair of R8s mentioned before, soon followed by an additional vehicle: a 2023 Audi R8 GT RWD.
The Audi R8 is pushed to its limits with this 2023 model. Nothing compares to the sight of an R8 drifting through the city streets after dark. As the four cars come together in a warehouse, the phrase “The Audi R8. An icon lives forever.” rings true.
It’s definitely remarkable that a car which has gained immense fame in the last 15 years is ultimately being put to an end, yet this is the scenario of 2023. Thank goodness though, we don’t think the aura surrounding the R8 will be vanishing soon. When CarBuzz these days tested one of the very latest models around Laguna Seca recently, it was precisely as wonderful as we had expected. Should Audi carry even a bit of this enchantment into its up and coming electric cars, we are sure that the company will be doing just fine.
