British Manufacturer’s Secret Electric Sports Car Unveiled

Caterham Cars had rather inconspicuous origins over the course of the early 70s before becoming hugely popular for their lighter-weight sports cars. In 1973, they acquired the rights to continue producing the single-seater Lotus 7 vehicle, which Lotus had intended to stop manufacturing. Caterham took the vehicle and developed it into what has become known as the Caterham 7 and the company’s status was established. Caterham has asserted that it can charge from 20 to 80 percent within a quarter of an hour when connected to a rapid charger. It appears as though they’ve expended just as much effort on its everyday usefulness as they have into its competitive side. According to CEO Bob Laishley, “This vehicle is just as suitable for one’s regular errands, or school trips, as it is for Sunday morning dashes.”

The automobile possesses a chic appeal. Its design features a smooth shape with pronounced wheel arches and sharp, angular curves rising from the base. It is reminiscent of luxury cars like Porsche and Aston Martin, yet exhibiting hints of Caterham’s classical Lotus-influenced look.

It appears that more consumers will willing purchase Caterham’s latest model, but not without a hefty sticker cost of about $103,925.

Project V is more than just an attractive package. The two-plus-one sport coupe (with a two-plus-two option), packs the electric power of a race car, producing 268 hp to propel its 2,623.5 pounds from 0 – 62 mph in a blistering 4.5 seconds and reach an estimated top speed of 143 mph, putting itself in the same ranks as the hottest sports cars around.
