Hyundai has now achieved back-to-back World Car of the Year prizes, with the Ioniq 6 earning first place in 2023. The Ioniq 5 was victorious in the same three categories one year prior. The Ioniq 6 earned the World Car Design and World Electric Vehicle Awards once again. Of the three finalists vying for the 2021 COTY trophy, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 triumphed over the BMW X1/iX1 and Kia Niro.

Hyundai emerged victorious against the BMW i7 and Lucid Air for the EV accolade. To take the design honour, it contended with the Land Rover Range Rover as well as the Lucid Air.
