Identifying the Destination Country: No Rewards for Correctly Guessing
Hyundai recently unveiled a unique version inspired by the latest Santa Fe model. However, don’t get too thrilled just yet as this special edition will not be hitting the American market. Instead, the National Hockey League (NHL) Edition will only be available for purchase in Canada, our neighboring country to the north.
The car company states that the one-of-a-kind Santa Fe was specifically created for “hockey enthusiasts,” featuring exclusive custom details only available in the NHL Edition. The square-shaped exterior is enhanced by a Creamy White matte coating and complemented by 20-inch multi-spoke wheels painted in black. The overall appearance is quite impressive and will not be replicated on any other Santa Fe, as it is unique to this particular model.
In case you are not informed, Hyundai Canada serves as an authorized automotive ally of the National Hockey League (NHL).
Regrettably, Hyundai has only released a single image and as a result, we are unable to get a full view of the updated interior. However, it appears that several changes have been made. The door sills have been customized with Luxwood designs while the floor and cargo liners are now provided by WeatherTech. These liners can even be personalized further with the logo of the customer’s favorite NHL team.
The NHL Edition takes its inspiration from the luxurious Ultimate Calligraphy trim, ensuring that buyers will have an array of impressive accessories at their disposal. These include a high-quality 12-speaker Bose sound system, a convenient dual wireless device charger, and multiple USB ports for added convenience. In addition, customers have the option to add a UV-C sterilization compartment, equipped with ultraviolet light to eliminate germs from common items like phones, glasses, keys, and wallets. The elegant upholstery features a sophisticated Pecan brown finish.
Beneath the exterior, lies a turbocharged 1.6-liter hybrid engine which boasts a combined strength of 232 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. This power is transmitted to the pavement through a six-speed automatic transmission. Interestingly, the Ultimate Caligraphy trim will exclusively be equipped with this engine, as it is typically matched with the mightier 2.5-liter motor that produces 277 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.
The economical aspect of the hybrid should be improved, however Hyundai has not yet revealed their official EPA evaluations for the Santa Fe. It is anticipated that plug-in hybrid variations will soon be released.
Unveiled at the Montreal International Auto Show from January 19-27, this car will also make appearances at various other gatherings before becoming available for purchase. Potential buyers should take prompt action as only 500 units of the NHL Edition will be made for MY2024. Details on pricing have not been disclosed yet.
