Debut confirmation coming later this week.
“We are definitely intrigued,” states the article. The highly anticipated 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon is set to open in a few days, and Nissan has announced that they will be unveiling a new Nismo model at the event. Although the specific model has not been revealed yet, it has been confirmed that it will be a street-legal car with an “electrified” powertrain.
Different car manufacturers have varying definitions of the term “Nismo,” with some using it to describe solely electric vehicles while others apply it to plug-in hybrids. However, based on the mysterious preview, it seems likely that this upcoming Nismo model will be completely electric. The outline suggests that it will be a high-performance version based on the Ariya. While this would be the first SUV to receive the Nismo treatment, there are already existing Nismo versions of the Patrol, which has been available in the Middle East since 2015, and the Juke, which was introduced a few years earlier.
There have been numerous photos taken of an upgraded Ariya, which seems to further support the idea of a Nismo version. In November, this test vehicle was spotted at a Tesla charging facility close to the Nürburgring, showcasing a more athletic body kit, a reduced height, and 20-inch wheels equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The focal change that stood out was the large spoiler mounted on the rear hatch.
At the moment, there are no specifications available. However, Nissan is expected to increase the power output. The dual-motor Ariya, in its strongest configuration, boasts an impressive 389 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 4.8 seconds, making it a formidable contender. Nevertheless, both the Tesla Model Y Performance and Kia EV6 GT reign supreme with even greater power and faster acceleration times.
We’ll soon discover the secrets concealed within this enigmatic picture as it is unveiled later in the week. The highly anticipated 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon will run from Friday to Sunday, with Nissan live streaming the debut of their latest Nismo model on January 12 at 10 AM (local time). For those in Eastern Standard Time, this will be January 11 at 8 PM. Alongside this new release, the spotlight will also shine upon the 2024 GT-R Nismo and a special edition 2024 Skyline Nismo.
