Let’s delve into the details. At the recent Tokyo Auto Salon, Nissan stole the spotlight with the highly anticipated launch of the Ariya Nismo. This electrifying model puts a new spin on the already popular Ariya, providing a more athletic and dynamic driving experience. Its eye-catching aesthetics are further accentuated by a striking body kit that exudes a fierce and commanding presence on the road. The Ariya Nismo boasts several enhancements compared to its predecessor, including larger wheels that give the crossover a more grounded and sturdy stance. Additionally, this electric vehicle packs a punch with its increased power, promising an exhilarating ride for drivers who crave speed and performance. With these impressive upgrades, it’s clear that Nissan has set the bar high for its competition. How will the Tesla Model Y Performance and Hyundai Ioniq 5 N stack up against the Ari
Derived from the formidable e-4ORCE variants, the upcoming Ariya Nismo will come in two different levels of performance: B6 e-4ORCE and B9 e-4ORCE. The entry-level model, B6, generates 362 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, falling slightly short of the top-of-the-line Ariya with its default 389 hp. Underneath the hood lies a 66 kWh battery pack, while the vehicle’s weight on the road is estimated to be around 4,585 lbs.
Those in search of greater muscle will need to choose the B9. Boasting an impressive 429 horsepower and a hefty 443 lb-ft of torque, the Nismo B9 is currently the strongest version of the Ariya. Surprisingly, it even surpasses the newly unveiled Nismo Z in terms of power. However, its weight of 4,894 pounds may hinder its agility in comparison to its sports car counterpart.
Unfortunately, Nissan has not disclosed any performance numbers, however, it will definitely surpass the standard Ariya in terms of speed. Whether it can match the acceleration of the Model Y Performance and Ioniq 5 N is still uncertain, but highly unlikely.
Despite its impressive speed on straight roads, the Ariya boasts a host of other exceptional features. Nismo has meticulously fine-tuned this electric crossover to enhance its handling and dynamic capabilities. Moreover, the accelerator pedal has been optimized for improved responsiveness. In addition, by activating the specialized Nismo mode, the vehicle’s reactions are taken up a notch. For those seeking a sportier driving experience, the Ariya offers an optional unique sound that echoes the thrilling sounds of Formula E racing, a realm in which Nissan plays a significant role.
Enhancements to the aerodynamic performance have been implemented, all thanks to the addition of a sporty body kit. Along with its revamped appearance, the Ariya Nismo boasts a noticeable front lip, stylish side skirts, a simulated diffuser, and two spoilers on the rear. These add-ons are coated in a striking black hue and feature delicate red pinstriping for added flair. The vehicle also comes equipped with 20-inch wheels wrapped in 255/45 tires. Nissan confidently claims that the lightweight aluminum wheels significantly enhance the handling of the car, providing exceptional turning responsiveness and improved stability, especially at elevated speeds.
Within, the Ariya’s sophisticated interior has undergone a complete makeover to exude a sense of energy and athleticism. The black upholstery is complemented by striking red details, creating a bold and dynamic atmosphere. The dashboard and seats are covered in Alcantara for enhanced grip, and the flat-bottomed steering wheel features a sleek combination of black leather and vibrant red stitching. According to Nissan, these seats are only available in the Ariya Nismo model, along with the distinct black open-pore wood on the center console. For other models, a luxurious brown veneer finish is offered as an alternative.
More information, such as cost and release date, is anticipated to be released in the future. It is yet to be determined if the Ariya Nismo will be sold in America. Should it make its way to our country, we project a starting price of $65,000, taking into consideration the current pricing of the regular Ariya model.
In addition to the Ariya Nismo, Nissan is showcasing a variety of intriguing concepts at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon.
