January 2025 marks the release date for the new debut.
Kia unveiled financial figures for the initial quarter of 2024, filled with the typical sales and financial terminology. Alongside this announcement, the company also shared a video of its CEO’s presentation during Investor Day held earlier in the month. From this footage, intriguing information about future products was revealed.
The EV9 GT is set to debut in January 2025 with “enormous power” coming from an enhanced dual-motor configuration. Kia has announced that it will accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in under four seconds, a remarkable feat considering the hefty weight of the large SUV, which is close to 6,000 pounds. Anticipate a significant increase in power compared to the current most powerful version, which delivers 379 horsepower and 516 pound-feet. This extra power will enable the GT model to trim more than one second off its acceleration time.
Unless Kia intends to enhance the battery chemistry, the range is likely to be negatively impacted. This is a common occurrence when an electric vehicle receives performance upgrades that sacrifice efficiency. Currently, the EV9 GT-Line can travel 270 miles on one charge according to EPA standards. Kia has stated that the fully upgraded GT model will come equipped with a more robust suspension system and improved brakes.
Another electric Kia SUV is gearing up to introduce a GT model. Despite not being discussed during the CEO Investor Day, the EV5 GT has already been revealed early in China. It has received homologation from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and images of it have been posted on MIIT’s website.
During the presentation, a product roadmap was shown in the background. A revised EV6 is set to be released in the second quarter of this year. The sporty EV6 GT will come later in early Q4. Kia also intends to make adjustments to the well-liked Sportage in the last quarter of the year. Additionally, the first-ever EV3 and the new K4 are expected to debut in Q3, while the large K8 sedan, which is currently not available in the United States, will receive a mid-cycle facelift.
However, the upcoming release of a five-door hatchback model of the K3 compact sedan, which is also not intended for the American market, takes precedence.
