Kia’s upcoming EV9 GT to boast significant power capabilities.

Launching in January 2025: The New Arrival.

Kia has unveiled its financial performance for the initial quarter of 2024, packed with typical business and sales terminology. However, alongside this announcement, the company has shared a video recording of the CEO’s presentation from Investor Day held earlier this month. Within the speech, some exciting insights about upcoming products were revealed.

The debut of the EV9 GT is scheduled for January 2025, featuring “enormous power” generated by an enhanced dual-motor configuration. Kia has announced that the vehicle will accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in under four seconds, a remarkable feat considering the SUV’s substantial weight of almost 6,000 pounds. Anticipate a significant increase in power compared to the current most powerful version, which delivers 379 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. This added boost will enable the GT variant to trim more than a second off its acceleration time.

If Kia doesn’t intend to enhance the battery chemistry, it’s likely that the range will decrease. This is a common occurrence when an electric vehicle is upgraded for performance at the cost of efficiency. Currently, the EV9 GT-Line can travel 270 miles on one charge according to the EPA. Kia has stated that the higher-end GT model will receive a more robust suspension system and improved brakes.

There is another electric Kia SUV on the horizon set to have a GT edition. Even though it wasn’t discussed during the CEO Investor Day, the EV5 GT has been spotted in China. It has recently received certification from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, with pictures being posted on MIIT’s website.

During the event, a product roadmap was shown in the background. The latest EV6 is set to be released in the second quarter of this year. The EV6 GT, a sporty version, will come out in early Q4. Additionally, Kia has plans to make adjustments to the popular Sportage in the last quarter of the year. In other news, the first-ever EV3 and new K4 are scheduled to be released in Q3, while the large K8 sedan, which is not available in the United States, is expected to receive a mid-cycle facelift.

However, before that, a five-door hatchback model of the K3 compact sedan, which is also not intended for the American market, will be released shortly.
