A recent announcement from the Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia showcased an intriguing scene on X. A Lucid Air was at the forefront, surrounded by a convoy of police cars adorned with a futuristic siren mounted on their roofs. The unique feature of this siren is its ability to contain a drone, allowing for potential applications such as surveillance and observation in hard-to-reach spaces inaccessible to the electric sedan.

According to the article, the electric vehicle (EV) is currently being displayed at the World Defense Show in the country until February 8. It features a sleek two-tone black and white paint job, as well as “Police” and “911” decals. The specific trim being showcased was not mentioned by the government agency, but the design of the wheels indicates that it is most likely the Air Pure trim, which is the base model of this particular EV.

The Lucid Air Pure is the sole rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model available, boasting an impressive 430 horsepower thanks to its single-motor configuration. Despite this, it will not be easy for other cars to outrun this electric vehicle, as it can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in only 4.5 seconds. As part of their agreement, one of the terms is the purchase of 100,000 Lucid vehicles over the course of ten years.

It is expected that converting the Lucid Air into a law enforcement vehicle will prove to be a prudent decision in light of recent reports revealing that the company is facing a loss of more than $300,000 per unit produced. Considering that 100,000 units have already been acquired for the nation, it is highly likely that we will witness a greater number of these cars being utilized for official purposes.
