Mazda CX-70 Debuts 30 January

Upsetting the Midsize SUV Industry?

Delighted Mazda enthusiasts, the all-new CX-70 is to be launched in the U.S on January 30th! Back in October 2020, Mazda North America’s Chief Executive proclaimed that the unveiling of the CX70 had been moved back until 2024 without specifying a precise date and quarter. However, reportedly, Car and Driver located the reveal date on Mazda Canada’s website even though it is essential to bear in mind that this just denotes an introductory period and not when it will start to be sold.

There’s a wealth of competing models, from the elegant and practical Kia Sorento to the more athletic BMW X3. Based on what we are aware of, it appears that the CX-70 will probably lean more in the direction of the latter.

Despite Mazda yet to affirm the motor alternatives, it has filed certification with the California Air Resources Board (CARB). This ultimately unintentionally revealed the powertrain choices ahead of its release. As was anticipated, the CX-70 is mounted with the same engines as the CX-90 – being a derivative of the latter’s platform.

The 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid is the more sensible option, yet we’re awaiting the high-performance 3.3-mild hybrid. This 3.3-liter turbocharged inline-six exudes a pleasing BMW-like sound, cranking out 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, making even the much bigger CX-90 feel lively. The Clausewitz version yields 280 hp and 332 lb-ft, plenty enough for top-notch enjoyment.

We are really eager to comprehend what this motor can do in the slim figure of CX-70.

It appears that the CX-70 is set to outshine its predecessor. Thanks to its close relation to the CX-60, we possess a broad knowledge regarding how the CX-70 will fare. The latter model, which unfortunately won’t be available in the US, underwent a notorious Moose Test; and obviously passed amazingly despite its fairly elevated stance.

Rumorald has it that the CX-70 will be a larger, extended version of the CX-60. Speculation tells us it should have much more expressive styling. The broader width would create even more space within the vehicle, something passengers and their belongings will surely appreciate. A bigger wheelbase is likely too much to ask for, as this appears to be simply a multi-purpose family SUV.

It is presumed that the CX-70 will be tremendously successful in the United States, mirrored by the reigning popularity of the exceptional CX-50.
