Ride Inside the First Mazda MX-5 Cup Race--2006 in Monterey

It is not unlikely that the Mazda MX-5 Cup could be acclaimed as the premier racing circuit on earth. The automobiles are not rapidly speediest or most fabulous, however the racing is genuinely engrossing and closer than any of the highest ranked motor sports which consist of F1, NASCAR, IndyCar, or IMSA. Proof from the primary happening of the MX-5 Cup event back in 2006 testifies that Miata auto racing has been thrilling at the same time from commencement.

On Saturday, Marshall Pruett uploaded a video recorded inside Larry Webster’s NC-generation Mazda MX-5 Cup car during a race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The journalist from Car and Driver initially lined up 10th on the grid but quickly managed to ascend to 5th due to mishaps of other drivers in front of him. During a full-course yellow, he advanced to 4th position, yet eventually relinquished that spot on the corkscrew. After all was said and done, Larry finished 4th overall.

For those seeking some excitement, this 12-minute video has got plenty of it. From near misses to head-to-tail oversteer, with plumes of dust and rev-limiters under full throttle, there’s a lot to keep track of. Even though the cars aren’t maxing out on speed, the MX-5 Cup series is still fantastic to watch — not only because all the vehicles are the same mechanically, but also since a large portion of success depends on the skill of the driver themselves. This makes for intensely competitive races that spectators continually enjoy.

It may have been shocking when, back in 2003, the first ever Mazda MX-5 Cup race happened, but it certainly was not a sudden occurrence. Seventeen years later, this racing event still provides an unbelievable amount of edge-of-your-seat thrills every time. If you call yourself a true fan of automotive racing events, then there’s no way you can miss out on this series.
