Mercedes-Benz C-Class: New Electric Model Set to Fix Major EQ Flaws

New Mercedes-EQ models set to stand out with distinguishing features.

Car enthusiasts were treated to a sneak peek of the upcoming electric Mercedes C-Class sedan as our talented photographers managed to capture it for the first time. With these exclusive spy shots, we get our initial glimpse of the exterior and interior of the car. Similar to its SUV counterpart that was spotted not too long ago, it seems like the EQC Sedan will boast a unique headlight design, although these are still in their early development stages. The bumpers on the prototype model are only temporary and are simply meant to conceal the true styling of the car before its official release. However, it’s reassuring to see that the overall body shape appears to be more traditional compared to other Mercedes EQ models.

Inside the vehicle, it seems that there may be two charging spots for wireless devices located in the center console just beneath the dashboard. Above the console, there is a large touchscreen panel for the infotainment system. At the top of this panel, there appears to be a small camera, possibly for taking selfies and recording TikTok videos. Below the screen, a pair of air conditioning vents are situated. From these design elements, it can be inferred that physical buttons and switches will not be present in the cabin, even those typically found on the steering wheel will likely be replaced by haptic touchpads. It is known that the Hyperscreen display will be even more extensive and all-encompassing, but currently, it has not been incorporated into the C-Class. Therefore, it is expected that this new electric version will only have a total screen area of approximately 56 inches.

Despite the extensive disguise on the vehicle, it will still be some time before an official unveiling. The automotive company has a number of fresh releases slated for this year, but it is unlikely that a completely new C-Class will be one of them; the current W206 iteration was just introduced in 2021, and since most product cycles span six to seven years, the sedan is only due for a minor update, not a complete overhaul.

As soon as the arrival of the new model is announced, it will bring with it a fresh design approach that will be reflected in all its companion vehicles. Significant surface modifications are on the horizon for all EQ models, as the brand pledges to completely switch to electric power. The official unveiling is anticipated within the next couple of years at most.
