Mercedes-Benz and the G-Class have a history of creating special editions, but even the marketing team in Affalterbach must be feeling a bit embarrassed by the latest one, known as the “G-Class Stronger Than Diamonds Edition.” This new edition, with its rose-colored hue, is being released at a strategic time as it aligns with the brand’s campaign focused on the concept of a love that endures forever, a love that is more powerful than diamonds.
The video for this promotion is included beneath, and despite its title implying a dislike for a girl’s closest companion, the car in question actually celebrates precious gems, featuring a 25-carat diamond embedded in each of its four stainless steel door locking pins.
The exterior handles were deemed too susceptible for the genuine article, thus an embossed diamond logo was chosen instead. This emblem is also featured on each key, with a distinct pattern and crafted from authentic silver. On the back, the exclusive edition’s name is presented along with the gemstone motif.
Additional upgrades consist of plush carpets for the floor mats and dark nappa leather featuring exquisite rose-colored stitching. Along with these deluxe features, there is now a convenient grab handle on the passenger side and shining stainless steel door sills adorned with Stronger Than Diamonds emblems. A special indoor car cover in sleek black, designed specifically for this edition, is also part of the package. And for some peace of mind, a certificate is provided certifying that the diamonds used are ethically and responsibly sourced, taking into account environmental, social, and ethical criteria.
The Manufaktur department has created a unique edition with a package coated in a shade named Rosewood Grey magno (matte). This exclusive design has received mixed reviews, as it may not suit everyone’s preferences. However, compared to previous modifications by companies like Mansory, which have often ruined the iconic G-wagen, this upgrade is relatively tame. Mercedes, on occasion, has taken unconventional risks, such as adding a puffer jacket to an SUV – which some may find excessive.
The revolutionary Stronger Than Diamonds upgrade will be implemented on 300 units of the G500, each with a net list price of €175,000 in Germany (equivalent to slightly over $187,000 at the current exchange rate).
It is unlikely that this will be marketed in the United States.
