Merkur RS4Ti: The Cosworth ‘RS500’ SEMA Car

Interior: A Gleaming Showpiece

JH Restorations recently debuted their modernized interpretation of the 1987 Merkur XR4Ti at the SEMA show, known as the RS4Ti. This automobile was conceptualized as a contemporary variation of the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500, available in the US as the Merkur XR4Ti, thus leading to its nominative designation.

Whereas the stock version was powered by a 2.3-liter Lima inline four generating 145 to 175 horsepower (depending on whether you had an automatic or a manual model), the RS4Ti boasts a bit more capability under its hood. It utilizes a 2.3-liter Ford Performance EcoBeast turbocharged engine, and is estimated to put out around 450 hp–an impressive amount of power. We certainly support that.

A post that was contributed to by Larry Chen (@larry_chen_foto), has recently been made public. Revealing the photos he shares having been shared all over, it has evoked admiration from people around the world. His images have served up an enchanting beauty, gaining popularity for their inspiring work.

Energy is moved to the back axle by a highly-prepared Tremec TKX five-speed manual transmission provided by Bowler, which is then connected to the surface with an 8.8 differential from a 2018 Mustang. Although figures were not given regarding the weight of this construction, we bet it’s approximately or maybe even slightly lighter than the previous 2,952 lbs. Simply put, it would be easy for this to overtake a 2024 Mustang GT.

To maintain exceptional control, top-notch Wilwood six-piston brakes and QA1 suspension elements from a C6 Corvette design have been incorporated. Mounted on the car are American Racing VF529 wheels, donned with Toyo Proxes Sport tires.

The entire body kit is 100% personalized yet synchronizes excellently with the original designs. The elevated wheel wells, facial air splitter, and heightened power vent are remarkable, matching the factory equipment with the same elegance as fine wine and delicious cheese. The outer side has been painted using Ford’s Area 51 Blue – a cognizant tribute to its auto heritage.

The interior is even more remarkable. We are captivated by the blue tone motif on the Recaro chairs and a trace of orange on the steering wheel, providing us with an authentic Eighties vibe. Additionally, the RS4Ti has a Dakota digital measuring device among the classic gauges as well as a state-of-the-art sound system, although everything is concealed behind a covering of large hair and disco music resulting from throwback gauge patterns along with the addition of a Sony Walkman cassette player.

For those visiting the Las Vegas Convention Center, a car is on spectacular display at the Toyo Tires Treadpass area. The much-anticipated SEMA Show carries on until 3rd November (Friday).
