Spectacular Sight to Behold!
Ford Performance has finally revealed its newest motor vehicle for racing, the Mustang GT4, at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa in Belgium. After much anticipation, the cove has been taken away to present the thrilling ride to viewers.
The GT4 Mustang, derived from the stylish Mustang Dark Horse, comes equipped with a specifically-designed Coyote V8 engine. Ford is yet to reveal specifics regarding the powertrain; however, it is known that the street variant of the Dark Horse boasts an impressive 500 bhp. All motors will be constructed by Ford at their Dearborn factory.
The GT4 puts on a distinctive aerodynamic costume and boasts natural fiber body panels that help reduce weight. Featured elements of this package include Multimatic DSSV shock absorbers, a Holinger dog-ring transmission, and paddle shifters with pneumatic actuation. Multimatic will manage the manufacture of the fresh racing vehicle.
“We’re delighted to collaborate with such outstanding partners on these racing vehicle programs,” proclaimed Christian Hertrich, Motorsports powertrain manager at Ford Performance. “It’s even more special that we can do all of the engine work for the Mustang GT4 completely in-house. We have an awesome team, and I’m thrilled for Mustang fans to witness the Mustang GT4 in action.”
Thanks to the video above, we can experience the pure V8 screech of the all-new GT4. It sounds absolutely exceptional; the unrestrained V8 produces a coarse V8 noise that makes it unique compared to the typical heavy rumble normally correlated with the Mustang. Its older brother, the GT3, has an equally captivating exhaust melody.
Ford CEO Jim Farley has dubbed the carmaker’s latest motorsport venture “Ford vs. Everyone”, and the GT4 is the newest vehicle to be unveiled as part of this initiative.
The introduction of the Dark Horse just a year ago marked the start of several thrilling prospects to come. Since then, we have beheld the eruption of the Mustang GT3 as well as its facelift, the GT4 version, and there are schemes circulating that depict the rising of even more Mustang-based race cars. All in all, the total number of models should exceed six and will partake in diverse tournaments including NASCAR and NHRA Factory X racing.

Ford has put their latest livery on the GT4, a design created by Troy Lee Designs. Already initially appearing on the Mustang GT3, this vibrant color scheme is also to be seen on the SuperVan 4.2; an all-electric time trial car that raced in Pikes Peak last week.
Ford is looking to remain an integral part of the SRO GT4 competition with the unveiling of their newest model, the GT4 Mustang. Available both to amateur and professional drivers alike, this innovative car will help to solidify Ford’s stakehold in international racing while upholding their legendary tradition as a motorsport-driven brand. We are eagerly awaiting the launch of the forthcoming Mustang racers.
