New Software Update: Audi Q4 e-tron Charging Improved

Improved Charging: Owners Get Benefits

Audi has unveiled a fresh OTA update for their Q4 e-tron electric crossover, furnishing drivers with added features for ease and automobile charging.

The most noteworthy alteration is related to the charging features. A new “preferred charging time” option permits the driver to charge the batteries within a certain timeframe during cost-effective periods. Depending on your driving habits, your Q4 will collect energy during off-peak periods, thus allowing you to both recharge and save money at the same time.

An up-to-date attribute is a timer that renders it easier to charge the AC than ever before. Audi said that when the automobile is getting ready for trips (through the departure timer), power used to heat the interior is diverted to the car during charging from an external source including a wallbox or public charger.

The updated software also features a revised thermal management system which increases the efficiency by keeping track of the external temperature and charge amount while adjusting the battery pack.

“The new Audi Q4 e-tron lineup offers a boost in DC charging power, up to 135 kW, compared to the previous software. Owners of the Q4 e-tron can also specify a new battery protection feature which Audi says will keep the battery “in the ideal state of charge” by limiting it to 80%. This feature is beneficial for those who don’t drive long distances, but may not be as appealing to those who do. The maximum claimed range for the Q4 e-tron lineup is 265 miles.”

A nifty improvement is in the shape of Plug & Charge capacity. At chosen power stations, when a cable is inserted into the motor, the Q4 will start charging up spontaneously, with transaction taken care of straight away. A similar system is currently used by General Motors for their electric vehicle patrons.

Finally, several alterations are in place to streamline driving. This concludes actions on the energy side, but a few more refinements are envisioned to facilitate the driver’s experience.

myAudi app users can use the route planner to craft a journey and transmit it to their vehicles for future reference. Lately, prior destinations are preserved too, simplifying the retrieval of places visited previously. Moreover, the mobile app also allows owners to find their ride in a full parking area. In the case of accidental damage or a breakdown, the driver can call for help using the myAudi app.

If you come across a more significant accident, you will be pleased to understand that the Q4 e-tron and its model sibling were both bestowed with a Top Safety Pick+ rating by the IIHS.

This updated software will be a fixture in all MY2023 derivatives, thus installing the change for cars produced commencing from the 2022 model year.
