Enhance Sim Racing with Feedback Seat & Streamline Endurance Driver Swaps

At the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show, Recaro, a renowned manufacturer of specialty automotive seats, showcased its latest and most alluring seat designs. One standout from their collection was the Pro Supreme GT FPR seat, set to be featured in the Ford Mustang GT3 for upcoming endurance races. This year’s Consumer Electronics Show saw Recaro, a notable producer of specialized car seats, introduce a range of attractive new designs. Notably, they unveiled the remarkable Pro Supreme GT FPR model, chosen to equip the Ford Mustang GT3 for its grueling endurance races.

The Pro Supreme GT FPR was the result of a collaboration between Recaro Automotive and Ford Performance Racing, with the purpose of facilitating quicker driver switches. While endurance races may span several hours, they still require a competitive edge where even the slightest difference in time can make a significant impact.

Recaro has announced that their latest seat design offers a smooth and effortless way for drivers to enter and exit their vehicle. This is made possible through the use of adaptable pads and layered attachment points on the sides. These innovative features allow for easy adjustments while driving to cater to different body shapes and sizes.

Naturally, the recently introduced Pro Supreme GT FPR designed for the Ford Mustang racecar has obtained official certification from the FIA and successfully completed multiple rigorous crash examinations. This cutting-edge seat features advanced side-impact neck safety measures that align with neck protection systems, as well as an ergonomically designed backrest in the shape of an “S”. Crafted from a combination of carbon and Kevlar materials, the shell is both lightweight and durable, while the upholstery is flame-retardant to ensure maximum safety. Additionally, the seat includes prominent thigh and torso supports to provide superior stability during high-speed races. Furthermore, it can easily be fitted with four, five, or six-point harnesses, giving drivers the freedom to choose their preferred restraint system.

In addition to the debut of the GT3-spec Mustang seat, Recaro has a range of other offerings on display at this year’s CES. Among these is the cutting-edge Sim Star “24H Le Mans Edition” seat equipped with FeelTech+ technology, designed specifically for sim racing. This seat boasts an impressive ability to replicate the sensations of driving a real car, thanks to its seat insert pads featuring a 14-actuator system. This system has the capability to translate sounds up to 20,000 hertz into haptic and touch feedback, providing a remarkably realistic experience for users.

Shifting focus back to practical driving, the brand also presents their innovative TechArt GTstreet R Flyweight seat. This is the identical Podium CF seat utilized in the exclusive TechArt GTstreet R Flyweight edition which derives from the Porsche 911 Turbo S.

The car’s limited production run of 19 units places a strong focus on speed, with every aspect designed for maximum efficiency. The seat shells are exceptionally lightweight, clocking in at a mere 10.8 pounds. Additionally, the lightweight pads are crafted through 3D printing and are expertly engineered for superior ventilation and damping capabilities.

At the CES exhibit, the company also presents the Recaro Ergo M AM384 Commercial Vehicle Seat, specifically crafted for individuals who spend long hours operating a bus, delivery van, or any type of work automobile. This impressive seat offers an eight-way power adjustment option, making it suitable for different body types. Notably, it utilizes Infra-Red reflective yarn for the seat belt webbing, enabling improved detection by in-vehicle IR cameras, which are crucial in enforcing seatbelt usage.

Next in line is the RCP Concept Chair – a fusion of the Sport C framework and the Ideal Comfort Concept by the brand. It boasts a customizable design, complete with a built-in headrest and a compact block height. This versatile construction allows for its adaptation to different car models, although it bears a striking resemblance to the available seats in the BMW M2 and M4.

In addition to the aforementioned products, the Recaro RCF Infusion is a noteworthy technology that has been integrated into certain models of the Profi XL and attractive Pole Position seats. This innovative approach prioritizes sustainability by incorporating recycled carbon fiber, with an average of 10-11% utilized in the composition of each seat. The materials used consist of braided woven carbon, woven glass, and vinyl ester epoxy resin which effectively bind together to create the final product.

For those interested in attending, the 2024 edition of CES will be taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada and is slated to run until January 12th, 2024.
