The 2002 Ford Focus with the Fewest Miles and Basic Features Up for Sale

Brand new car with manual features and only 134 miles.

A mere 23 years in the past, the 2002 Ford Focus LX sedan was one of the most affordable new Fords on the market. Yet, it remained unsold and is now seeking an owner. Listed for sale on Bring a Trailer, it boasts a mere 134 miles on the odometer, potentially making it the Ford Focus with the lowest mileage globally. If you’re willing to forego some modern conveniences, this could become your latest daily driver with a touch of classic charm.

The concept of creature comforts has certainly changed over time since the creation of this Focus. It is equipped with the original engine from 2002: a 2.0-liter SOHC four-cylinder producing 110 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, and it also features a standard factory cassette radio. Beneath the radio, there is a row of manual climate control knobs, however, air conditioning is not included. On the positive side, this means less power is drawn from the engine, which is already relatively lacking in power.

In order to stay chilled, you’ll need to lower the manually operated windows with hand cranks. Don’t stress about trying to understand the cruise control settings while driving on the highway, as this vehicle lacks that feature. Upon reaching the store, ensure to manually lock all four doors. And as you stroll away, look back to appreciate the stylish five-spoke hubcaps on 14-inch steel wheels. This Focus truly harkens back to a different period of driving. It’s completely analog, and for that reason, we love it.

As per the auction description, this Focus was originally delivered to a Ford dealership in 2002, which unfortunately closed soon after receiving it. The car remained in storage for unknown reasons until it was purchased in 2022 by the current owner, another dealership. Despite having very few miles on the odometer, the small Ford spent some time exposed to the elements, resulting in significant dents on the hood that were allegedly caused by hail. Additionally, there are minor scratches on the dashboard and a small burn mark on the driver’s seat. While this vehicle may have remarkably low mileage, it is not without flaws.

This particular Focus comes with a recently replaced timing belt, battery, front crank seal, fuel pump, and fuel filter as specified in the auction listing. The oil has been changed, the cooling system has been flushed, and the tires have been upgraded to newer Hankook models. It still retains its original window sticker, which confirms its minimal list of standard features. The only additional options noted are anti-lock brakes and side airbags. While it may not be loaded with features, at least it prioritizes safety. It’s as safe as you could hope for a 2002 Ford Focus.

The sticker on the window displays a full cost of $14,000, which covers a $490 destination fee. Adjusted for inflation, this amount would be equivalent to $24,305 in 2024 currency. Do you think it will reach that price at the auction? Currently, bidding has reached $3,750, and the auction is set to conclude on April 30. With no minimum bid required, the well-preserved Focus from yesteryears will find a new home soon. Share your predictions on the final selling price for this Focus by commenting below.
