Few Cars Predate 1990s by Decades
As the only representative from Europe in the Motor1 US group, I strive to keep our readers informed about the latest happenings on the world’s second smallest continent. Recently, I came across a captivating yet sorrowful video showcasing an abandoned dealership housing an unexpectedly high amount of decaying cars. This establishment, situated in France, was once a thriving Peugeot showroom until it closed its doors many years ago.
The invasion commences with a Peugeot 505 GTi parked adjacent to a more modern 405 SR, both of them covered in mold and likely deserted for quite some time. The individual behind The Bearded Explorer’s YouTube channel was eventually able to penetrate the premises, revealing a plethora of sights, not limited to vintage Peugeots. Among these were a first-generation Ford Focus station wagon, a facelifted Nissan Micra hatchback from the same era, a Fiat Palio Weekend estate, and even a verdant Mazda Premacy minivan.
Many vehicles bear the recognizable lion emblem of the renowned French brand, and although most of the neglected cars date back to the 1990s, there are a few significantly older models scattered throughout. Tucked away in the depths of the lot lies a sleek black Peugeot 203 dating back to the 1950s, while behind it sits a smaller car that appears to be from the 1920s or 1930s. If forced to select just one from the abandoned collection, the white 605 SRi with its rear spoiler would surely catch our eye.
In spite of the decaying presence of Euro vehicles, a multitude of spare parts and repair guides could prove useful as these vintage models continue to remain in operation in 2024. The workshop still houses certain tools and an abundance of wheels, tires, and leftover motor lubricant. Furthermore, a Mercedes towing truck can be seen parked outside the structure, with reports of another one being present not too long ago. It is worth noting that there were even more automobiles on the premises prior to the recording of this video.
It is intriguing to uncover the tale behind this rundown dealership and repair facility. It seems that it has been out of commission for a considerable amount of time. The deserted vehicles and spare parts only add to the enigma, and we are just as captivated by the presence of the Talbot sign, considering its discontinuation in 1995. Although the cars captured on film may not be particularly extraordinary, witnessing them abandoned and forgotten is truly disheartening.
