2024 Toyota Tundra: TRD Performance Enhancements
Since its initial launch in excess of two decades ago, the Toyota Tundra has experienced a host of developments and makeovers. Nevertheless, none have been more momentous than the revamp of the 2024 model. Its mightiest alteration was the substitution of the V8 motor for the twin-turbocharged V6 engine present in the 2021 edition. The Tundra is now furthermore more customizable than ever, with plentiful advantage packages and separate choices available.
In addition to the Off-Road and Nightshade editions, Toyota has declared an all-new TRD Performance kit for their Tundra, set to be launched in the beginning of 2024. This package holds the potential to give an extra 32 horsepower boost to the lineup’s current i-FORCE V6 engine, as well as intensifying the Pickup Truck’s low-end torque performance.
The 2024 Tundra is outfitted with the i-FORCE V6 engine from Toyota, generating an initial 389 horses at 5200 revolutions per minute and a torque of 479 lb-ft. As clarified by Greg Bernas, Vice President of the Toyota Service Parts and Accessories Development division, the TRD Performance Package can increase this power to 421 hp and a revolutions-per-minute count of 5200.
Although there is no additional force, it does give it the ability to accelerate faster, providing 479 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm. This implies that the TRD Performance Package gives an impressive addition in terms of energy output. In addition, the i-FORCE Max Hybrid attains a significant rise in horsepower from 437 to 469 hp.
The TRD Package offers not only more power, but enhanced airflow as well. Toyota’s engineers have improved the turbochargers of their V6 engine with the addition of larger, higher-flow intakes and a newly-tuned exhaust system. Furthermore, engine calibration has been modified using specialized software, enabling the Performance Package to offer the driver increased throttle power options.
According to Toyota, there are various statistics that show the truth concerning their successes. Their output has already achieved great heights, and they continue to push themselves to even further gain. Their vehicles have been travelling millions of kilometers with satisfaction, and they see no finish line in sight. They display remarkable resilience by having a significant number of vehicles that consistently remain on the roadways for years. Despite this, they yearn for the future, constantly aiming to increase their safety standards.
Furthermore, the Tundra TRD package offers an additional boost in power plus improved engine capabilities. This package includes exterior styling touches inspired by Toyota’s racing vehicles, such as a special badge on the rear of the truck and a sculpted exhaust pipe trim. The turbocharged engine amped up with the exhaust system upgrades lends to Tundra’s conspicuous capabilities and produces a bold sound that Toyota labels as intimidating.
The TRD Performance Package has a factory-fitted setup with an MSRP of $3,400. Currently only intended for the Tundra platform, Toyota are planning to broaden the offering to other models down the line. There is also the prospect of providing a dealership-installed alternative for individuals who have already purchased a Tundra.
