Harrowing footage shows distracted driver send Honda CR-V over cliff edge.
Distracted driving remains a significant concern in the United States. Even a momentary diversion of attention from the road can have catastrophic consequences, as demonstrated by an incident in which an Oregon motorist lost control of their vehicle and plummeted 200 feet down an embankment, as reported by the Oregon State Police.
The video clip presented below documents the instance in which a 2023 Honda CR-V swerved off the road, barreling through a bend and plunging into a brief runoff. The vehicle did not come to a halt, instead it launched into the air and vanished from the camera’s view with its front end pointing towards the unknown.
The driver managed to survive the collision, however, according to a statement from Oregon State Police sent via email to Motor1, they sustained moderate injuries that are not considered life-threatening. OSP also shared on their Facebook page that the driver was able to free themselves from the wrecked Honda. Emergency responders utilized a system of ropes to safely transport the driver up the incline, where an ambulance promptly transported them to a nearby hospital for medical care.
On February 26, at 10:42 a.m., an incident occurred in Clackamas County on Highway 224, located southeast of Portland. Motor1 has reached out for the police report, but it remains unfinished at this time. The driver involved in the crash did not receive a citation.
