Volkswagen ID.7 GTX Seen Before Tomorrow’s Unveiling for High-Performance Debut

Electric wagon’s speed revealed in recent teaser and spy shots.

Fresh photos of the Volkswagen ID.7 have been submitted by our undercover photographers, capturing the high-powered GTX version. This comes soon after the company’s announcement that the electric vehicle will make its debut on March 13. The pictures showcase the Tourer model (equivalent to a station wagon), but a sedan version will also be available, following the design of last year’s ID.X Performance Concept.

Our images captured the complete exterior layout of the car, excluding the badges, lower fog lights, and the inevitable red pinstripe accents. It showcases an attractive automobile with sleek contours and subtle indications of its impressive capabilities – larger wheels, a simple diffuser, and a slight alteration in the grille mesh.

The standard ID.7 Tourer was recently unveiled without the lower fog lights shown in our spy shots, but with the same wheels.

Evidently, Volkswagen’s electric vehicles in their GTX iterations will emulate the GTI and GLI models that came before them, signifying that they will not boast loudly about their performance, but rather allude to it through understated hints that do not overpower.

Volkswagen has yet to announce any details regarding the anticipated ID.7 GTX, but according to reports, the standard model boasts an impressive range of 426 miles as well as 282 horsepower and 402 lb-ft of torque. Although we previously highlighted the ID.X Performance Concept which can reach up to 500 hp, it remains uncertain if Volkswagen will equip the GTX with the highest level of power. Regardless, it is expected to have a shorter range than the regular version as it may feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration for optimal performance at the cost of efficiency.

It is certain that the longroof variant will not be available in the US, regardless of whether it is labeled as a GTX or a standard ID.7 station wagon. However, there is a possibility for other forthcoming electric models to enter the market.
