2024 Kia Sorento Price Escapes Hyundai Santa Fe’s Steep Hikes

HEV and PHEV prices to be announced later this year.

After showcasing at the 2023 LA Auto Show last November, the 2024 Sorento by Kia has now revealed its prices. As expected for a revamped edition, there has been a modest rise in pricing as the South Korean company has tacked on roughly $2,000 for the latest model.

The starting price for the base model of Sorento, the LX, comes in at $31,990 and now includes front-wheel drive, a $1,600 hike from the previous 2023 version. The Sorento S FWD is available for $34,390, which is an increase of $1,500, while the all-wheel drive option adds on an extra $2,000. Moving up the trim levels, the Sorento EX and Sorento SX both see a rise in prices, with the former costing $37,990 (a $1,700 jump) and the latter ringing in at $41,690, a $2,500 increase.

Transitioning to the rougher X-Line variants equipped with all-wheel drive and a center-locking differential as the norm, the most accessible option is the Sorento X-Line EX model, available at the cost of $41,690, representing a $1,700 increase from its predecessor. Moving up the ladder, the X-Line SX trim is positioned at $43,490.

Kia presents a high-end option for their midsize crossover with the Prestige trims, including the Sorento X-Line SX Prestige which has a steep price of $46,390, marking a significant jump of $2,400. The brand-new Sorento X-Pro SX Prestige is being sold at $47,390 and offers impressive enhancements, such as 17-inch wheels equipped with BF Goodrich all-terrain tires and an augmented towing capacity of 4,000 lbs.

In the lower trims, such as the LX and S, a 2.5-liter inline-four engine produces 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, while the higher trims feature a more powerful turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that generates 281 hp and 311 lb-ft. Unlike its counterparts, this robust powertrain is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission rather than a torque converter.

Potential customers should keep in mind that the listed prices do not include the $1,375 destination fee. However, the price increase is not as significant as the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, which is the Sorento’s corporate sibling. Yet, it should be noted that the Hyundai has undergone a comprehensive transformation.

After the announcement of the pricing for the 2024 Kia Sorento, our attention is now on the upcoming HEV and PHEV versions, set to be released later this year as part of the 2025 model lineup.
