2024 Kia Telluride: Another Reason to Fall in Love

Midsize SUV Dominates Stricter IIHS Crash Tests: Unbeatable Performance!

Kia’s well-received 2024 Telluride has recently earned the highest recognition from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), as the highly demanded family SUV was honored with the Top Safety Pick+ award. The 2024 Sportage, which has been Kia’s top-selling vehicle, also secured a commendable Top Safety Pick rating.

The recent announcement from IIHS regarding enhanced safety standards for car occupants and pedestrians has caused a stir in the automotive industry. To meet the new guidelines, cars must score significantly higher in crash tests. An exemplary rating is now mandatory in the side protection assessment, whereas a ‘Good’ or ‘Acceptable’ rating is deemed essential in the revised pedestrian front crash prevention test.

The IIHS has recently begun to perform this assessment both during daytime and nighttime in order to verify the effectiveness of pedestrian safety mechanisms. Furthermore, the IIHS has enhanced their moderate frontal collision evaluation, which now involves an additional dummy placed behind the driver’s seat.

After evaluating the Sportage and Telluride, the IIHS declared that both models provide the “utmost level of safety for both the vehicle and its passengers, as well as vulnerable individuals on the road.”

Even the base model of Sportage, the LX edition, comes equipped with a wide range of safety features. In addition to the standard forward collision-avoidance technology that can detect cars, pedestrians, and cyclists, it also includes lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, safe exit warning, rear occupant alert, driver attention warning, and lane-following assist. Rear airbags, a new addition for the 2024 model, are now also included in the package.

The Telluride LX, which is also the initial model, amazes with its comprehensive array of features including Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Highway Driving Assist 1.5, and Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go capability.

“We fully endorse the IIHS’s efforts to improve road safety, and our dedication to meeting the agency’s stricter standards is in sync. Safety continues to be a top priority for us, and we are devoted to continuously advancing in this crucial aspect every single day, as demonstrated by the 2024 Telluride!” stated Steve Center, Chief Operating Officer of Kia America.

The road safety issue in the United States remains a pressing concern, as thousands of fatalities are reported each year. Despite various efforts to address speeding, distracted driving, and drunk driving, too many lives are still being lost in car accidents.

When it comes to buying a car, most individuals prioritize either style or value. However, one of the most crucial factors to consider is safety. According to research by IIHS, there is a clear correlation between higher crash safety scores and lower chances of fatalities in accidents. Thus, it is imperative to pay attention to the recorded safety score when making a car purchase.
