2025 Lincoln Aviator Refresh Emphasizes Technology over Hybrid Powertrain

All Lincoln models now equipped with BlueCruise hands-free driving.

After five years since the introduction of the second-generation Lincoln Aviator, Ford’s upscale division has revamped the midsize, three-row SUV for the 2025 version, bringing refreshed aesthetics and an abundance of advanced technology. While it remains built on the same CD6 platform as the Ford Explorer, it still boasts a powerful 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 engine that delivers 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The latest model now comes equipped with standard adaptive suspension, while air suspension and four-wheel drive remain available as added features.

The Aviator Hybrid has been removed from the selection, following in the footsteps of the Ford Explorer facelift, which was also exclusively reserved for the Ford Police Interceptor. A spokesperson from Lincoln stated, “We are directing our attention towards our high-demand powertrain options for the Aviator.” The reliable 3.0-liter turbocharged engine on the Aviator continues to surpass the standard offerings of top competitors like the Porsche Cayenne, BMW X7, and Audi Q7.

Although the specifics of the engine may not be of great importance for the 2025 Aviator, as most of the modifications occur in other areas, resulting in an increase in the vehicle’s technological advancements and luxurious features.

Striking a harmonious balance between the compact Corsair and the spacious Navigator, the refreshed Aviator showcases a recognizable appearance with renewed aesthetics. The sleek mesh grille has undergone revisions and reportedly draws influence from the revamped Lincoln emblem. Positioned higher on the front end, the top of the grille now aligns with the upgraded LED headlights for a seamless design.

“Maintaining the same exact quoted text, these headlights showcase thin LED light strips that serve as both running lights and a welcoming feature through sequential animations as part of the ‘Lincoln Embrace.’ This sequence is reversed when the car is locked and the driver walks away. Light has become a crucial aspect of brand identity, as seen in the Illumination Package (included on Reserve and Black Label trims), which includes an illuminated Lincoln star logo and upgraded headlights with adaptive pixel LED technology and speed-sensitive lighting.”

Fresh color choices have been added to the Aviator lineup, which now offers Cenote Green and Whisper Blue Metallic. The base model comes equipped with newly crafted 20-inch machined aluminum wheels featuring dark-painted pockets. For those looking for more, there is an option for 22-inch wheels finished in Ebony Black, which are standard on the Black Label trim. An exclusive Jet Package is available for each trim, providing distinctive wheels, black accents on the exterior, all-season tires, and body-colored fascias, door cladding, and wheel lips.

An additional possibility to enhance the already impressive Black Label model is by choosing the brand new Black Label Special Edition. This option includes a roof coated in sleek black paint, 22-inch wheels in Ebony Black, and darkened grille inserts, fender and door badges, door spears, and window surrounds.

Shoppers have a multitude of options when selecting a design theme for their Lincoln vehicle. These include the luxurious Lincoln Black Label Invitation theme, which features Black Onyx leather, intricate hand-written calligraphy accents, open-pore Khaya wood trim, and Brandy-colored contrast stitching. Another impressive option is the Black Label Flight theme, which combines Luggage Tan and Ebony leather with sleek dark full-engine turn trim appliques.

In the past five years, since the release of the second-generation Aviator, technology has advanced at an astonishing pace. In order to keep pace with these changes, a midlife refresh has been implemented, focusing on significant enhancements to the Lincoln Digital Experience (LDE).

Contained inside a fresh 12.4-inch monitor and a 13.2-inch main touchscreen, the LDE integrates applications and features from Google and Amazon on a state-of-the-art digital interface. Lincoln has maintained the inclusion of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities to enhance user experience.

Using either Google Assistant or Alexa, voice control provides a comprehensive range of features including navigating with Google Maps, playing music, adjusting climate settings, scheduling meetings, creating reminders in your calendar, and sending text messages.

Improving one’s listening experience is made possible with the use of integrated applications such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible, iHeartRadio, and SiriusXM. On top of that, drivers can also enjoy the 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D Audio System (standard with 10 speakers). While stationary, passengers have the option to surf the internet through the Vivaldi Browser, and in the near future, Google Chrome will also be available for beta testing. Additionally, they can access video content on platforms like YouTube and Prime Video, or participate in virtual meetings using various conferencing apps that will be introduced soon.

BlueCruise, an innovative technology that allows for hands-free driving, has been made a standard feature for a duration of four years. This remarkable advancement aims to alleviate the pressures of driving on highways by seamlessly controlling braking, acceleration, and steering during long journeys. Additionally, the system is designed to semi-automatically facilitate lane changes through prompts on the turn signal. It will meticulously assess the safety of the situation before initiating the lane change and then precisely reposition itself in the new lane.

The effectiveness of the Lincoln Co-Pilot 360 2.1 driver-assist suite is evidenced by its inclusion of Evasive Steering Assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot detection, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and rear emergency braking capabilities.

In order to enhance the ease of use, customers are able to indulge in 30-way Perfect Position Front Seats featuring heating and ventilation, a power-adjustable steering wheel with heating capabilities, wireless phone charging, phone compatibility as a key, as well as a panoramic sunroof.
