At the 2023 BMW Group Annual Meeting, the German automaker mentioned its forthcoming Neue Klasse line-up of electric vehicles. They declared that six novel designs will be publicized between 2025 and 2027.

BMW is launching a fresh batch of electric cars in 2021, such as the i5 sedan, i5 Touring, and iX2 crossover, coinciding with the introduction of their brand-new 5 Series.

The first wave of Neue Klasse is set to feature a completely new design language. BMW has developed a wiring harness specifically for this purpose, as well as the next generation of high-performance drivetrains and significant battery efficiency improvements. In addition, the company mentioned a “fundamentally new UX/UI concept,” which could be a sign that the iDrive system is reaching the end of its development cycle.

By 2026, BMW has projected that the assembly of their Neue Klasse cars will be extended to their main production facility in Germany once renovations are completed. One year later, a total expenditure of around eight hundred and sixty million dollars will have been syphoned into the San Luis Potosi-based plant in Mexico; this incorporates a high-voltage battery factory in situ. However, BMW maintains that they will be making several forthcoming announcements on extra EV factories in due course.

In expectation of BMW’s conjecture that it will dispense 10 million completely electric vehicles to patrons by 2030, their first momentous benchmark is projected to reach two million all-electric vehicles in 2025.

“These are impressive figures to consider, and reflect BMW’s commitment to driving electric vehicle adoption. The automaker even forecasts that by 2030, 50% of their sales will be battery electric vehicles (BEVs) – a milestone that they anticipate reaching ‘well ahead’ of that date.”

“The evidence speaks for itself – and that is why we are aiming for even greater expansion of our all-electric vehicles this year, with expectations of 15% of our total sales,” said Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG. “Our recipe for success in the years ahead lies in our proven strengths, cutting-edge technologies, and the Neue Klasse. This combination puts us in the perfect position to react to the various changes occurring in different parts of the world.”

BMW has declared that it will provide more information and specifics regarding what it calls “the road to the Neue Klasse” at the German motor show in Munich this year. The company promises to put more meat on the bones of their plans at the show.
