Build Your Own Lego Kit of Senna’s Iconic F1 Car

Buckle up with our new 25 long Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance Lego kit for only $219.99!

The McLaren MP4/4, a legendary Formula One vehicle piloted by the esteemed Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, triumphed in an astonishing 15 out of 16 races during the 1988 season. Now, with the release of a new Lego set, you can have your very own miniature version of this remarkable machine, complete with a minifigure of Senna himself. The toy will be available for purchase on March 1st and is priced at $79.99 as part of the newest collection featuring Lego race cars for 2024.

The MP4/4 model, consisting of 693 pieces, boasts a length of 12.5 inches, a width of 6.5 inches, and a height of 5 inches. This Lego set is jam-packed with impressive features, including functional steering and suspension. Impressive attention to detail can be seen in the adjustable rear wing. The body of the car is emblazoned with the logos of McLaren and Honda, but the original Marlboro cigarette advertisement has been omitted.

According to the latest updates, it has been reported that the Lego MP4/4 can now be showcased by builders on a stand, which is specifically designed to mount the car at an angle. This allows viewers to admire the intricate details of the model while also providing them with relevant statistics about the car on the base. Additionally, the Senna minifigure is given its own podium, which prominently displays an image of the renowned driver. Along with this, the podium also features the inspiring quote, “No matter what your dream is, you have to dedicate yourself entirely to it,” serving as a reminder of the determination and passion required to achieve one’s goals.

The McLaren MP4/4 was equipped with a Honda-produced 1.5-liter V6 engine that incorporated turbocharging technology, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Throughout the 1988 F1 season, Senna and Prost proved to be formidable competitors, consistently securing top positions on the podium, with Senna often claiming first place and Prost a close second. The only exception was the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, where they were unable to secure a victory. However, by the conclusion of the season, Senna proudly earned the title of world champion.

For those who have a fondness for cutting-edge technology, Lego is also releasing two Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance sets (shown above). One is a compact 9.5-inch pull-back car priced at $26.99, while the other is a colossal 25-inch 1:8-scale model priced at $219.99.

The new Mercedes F1 set, featuring a total of 1,642 pieces, has us filled with anticipation. Its larger dimensions provide Lego’s team of designers with the opportunity to include impressive features like an operable wing, functional steering, a working suspension, and even moving pistons for the V6 engine. While neither of these sets are currently available for pre-order, we recommend getting your hands on the Senna model in the meantime.
