The leading contender in the realm of Last Call SUVs is none other than the Durango SRT 392 AlcHemi. With a production limit of just 1,000 units, this exclusive version of the SUV takes the already impressive Durango SRT 392 Premium and elevates it with distinctive details. The striking honeycomb-patterned dual stripes, SRT Brembo brakes, 392 fender decals, and interior stitching and trimmings all feature vibrant yellow accents, paying homage to Dodge’s clever play on words “alchemy” – the mystical medieval practice of transforming ordinary metals into precious gold.
The Durango SRT 392 AlcHemi boasts several unique characteristics, including its Satin Black forged wheels measuring 20 by 10 inches, Midnight Metallic grille and liftgate badges, interior accents made of forged carbon-fiber, black exhaust tips, and a leather and suede steering wheel that illuminates with a white LED SRT logo.
The foundation of the Durango SRT 392 AlcHemi is laid on the SRT 392 Premium model, featuring a robust naturally-aspired 6.4-liter V8 SRT Hemi MDS engine that delivers an impressive 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. This potent powertrain is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, a standard feature on this model.
The 2024 Durango SRT 392 AlcHemi is available in a restricted selection of Diamond Black, Destroyer Gray, Vapor Gray, and White Knuckle paint options. A total of 250 units will be produced for each color, with an additional cost of $3,595 on the current price of the Durango SRT 392 Premium, which stands at $86,200 before including destination fees.
Just like past versions, consumers interested in purchasing the exclusive Durango SRT 392 AlcHemi SUV will be able to browse the Dodge Horsepower Locator starting in late February. Manufacture is set to commence in April, and customers can expect to receive their vehicles in May.
As previously stated, this marks the start of the Durango Last Call lineup. The remaining models will be unveiled in the upcoming year, which includes the highly anticipated Last Call variant of the 710-horsepower Durango SRT Hellcat and the Durango models equipped with the 5.7-liter Hemi engine. It is currently uncertain if a Durango version of the formidable 1,025-horsepower Challenger SRT Demon, known as the most powerful Challenger to date, will be released. Regardless, we can imagine that current Durango Hellcat owners may not be thrilled about more examples being introduced. Similar previous announcements made by Dodge have resulted in legal action.
“Dodge CEO, Tim Kuniskis, stated, ‘Just as we did with the Dodge Charger and Challenger, it’s time to commemorate the V-8 HEMI engine that has been the driving force behind Dodge’s reign in the performance SUV market.'”
