The highly anticipated “most dynamic Taycan of all time” is set to make its debut today, showcasing a more potent iteration of Porsche’s popular electric vehicle. Expected to bear the moniker “Turbo GT,” this high-performance sedan will take aim at rivals such as the Tesla Model S Plaid and Lucid Air Sapphire. Notably, the Taycan has already achieved a remarkable feat by claiming the title of fastest purely electric car to lap the Nürburgring.
Porsche has maintained a degree of secrecy surrounding the Taycan Turbo GT, however recent spy shots of minimally camouflaged prototypes being tested on the Nurburgring have given us a glimpse of its enhanced design. The new model boasts a comprehensive aerodynamic package, highlighted by a prominent rear wing, and subtle modifications aimed at improving air flow. Engineers at Zuffenhausen appear to have put the Taycan through a rigorous weight loss program before sending it to the gym to bulk up. This assumption is backed by the fact that the Cayenne Turbo GT also received a power boost while shedding some pounds.
The validity of the speculation about a potential third engine remains uncertain, but even without this addition, total power output is expected to reach four figures due to the inclusion of a boost feature. Anticipate lightning-fast acceleration as the combination of increased horsepower and reduced weight should allow for a 0 to 60 mph sprint in under three seconds. It is highly likely that we will witness the birth of the most potent Porsche ever released for mass production, although this title may be short-lived as the Mission X supercar is poised to enter into the market.
It’s a well-known fact that the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT won’t single-handedly solve our environmental crisis with its electric powertrain. However, it aims to prove that an electric vehicle can offer more than just blazing fast acceleration on straight roads. The focus is on demonstrating that it can be enjoyable to maneuver through corners on a race track, even though it will likely still have a heavy overall weight. Pushing it to its limits will undoubtedly drain the battery at a faster rate, but this is a trade-off that owners will gladly accept.
In terms of pricing, the 2025 Taycan Turbo S comes with a staggering price tag of $210,995. However, Porsche is expected to increase the cost by at least $20,000 for their latest top-of-the-line model. Once additional features are added, it’s possible to exceed a whopping $250,000 in total expenses.
