2018 Loire Blue I-Pace for Sale: One-of-a-Kind Find!

A special 2018 Jaguar I-Pace EV400 HSE will soon hit the auction block, once owned by none other than King Charles himself. This particular vehicle was originally bought for the King’s personal enjoyment and to transport other members of the royal family, such as Queen Camilla.

The I-Pace, currently available for purchase, is being promoted as the inaugural electric vehicle for the British royal family. With a hefty price tag of approximately £60,000 (equivalent to $75,612 based on current exchange rates), the fully equipped I-Pace was brought to the royal family in September 2018. A speedy charging system was also set up at Clarence House, a prestigious official dwelling situated in the heart of London and used by the royal family.

In terms of specifications, the electric vehicle boasts a 394-horsepower motor that runs solely on electricity and is equipped with an all-wheel drive (AWD) mechanism. It also houses a 90 kWh battery unit, which provides a range of 246 miles according to EPA guidelines – a slight decrease from its WLTP-certified distance of 292 miles.

King Charles decided to have the I-Pace repainted in the color he loved most, Loire Blue, making it the only one of its kind with this unique shade. This electric vehicle boasts a spacious five-seater interior, adorned with luxurious Light Oyster Windsor leather upholstery for a stylish contrast.

In December of 2020, the vehicle was brought back to Jaguar after traveling approximately 3,000 miles. Subsequently, it was purchased by its current owner, Karen French.

According to French, “This I-Pace was exactly what I was looking for and pretty much on my doorstep.” However, it was not until he agreed to purchase the car that he uncovered its remarkable past. “I was absolutely thrilled,” he exclaimed. After driving it for over 30,000 miles, French made the decision in the New Year that it was time for a new chapter.

Historics Auctioneers is anticipating the sale of a prestigious car at the Ascot Racecourse on March 2, with an estimated price range of £55,000 to £70,000 ($69,311 to $88,214). This figure may seem high, but it is still comparatively affordable to the starting price of a new model in the United States, which sits at $72,000. However, for those not particularly interested in electric vehicles, there are plenty of other exciting items up for grabs at the auction house. These include a classic Ferrari Dino 246 GT, a rare Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI Tommi Makinen Edition, and a piece of automotive history: the iconic Ford Model T, renowned as the first car to be mass-produced.

Jaguar has announced the discontinuation of the I-Pace nameplate, as a part of their strategy to achieve full electrification by 2025. Despite this change, and with its distinctive paint color, the car is expected to have no trouble finding a new buyer.
