600 Horsepower Electric Vehicle Unveiled
Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N electric crossover has a new teaser video. In recent months, there have been disclosed some specifics about the prospective EV with the ‘N’ moniker. The footage shows the Ioniq 5 N in action, taking on snowy Swedish roads.
The remarkable clip demonstrates a camouflaged Ioniq 5 N gracefully outmaneuvering the snowy terrain alongside the i20N WRC Rally 1 automobile, all while keeping pace. The exhilarating teaser culminates with the reverberation of the N’s electric motors humming potentially intermixed with manufactured noises. We are aware that the EV will include several aural elements, including artificial gear changes and an engine limiter sound, so as to increase the driving experience, in line with what people ordinarily anticipate from hearing an automobile’s engine.
Despite sharing the same platform, the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N won’t resemble the already-released Kia EV6 GT. While the Kia boasts a powerful 576 hp motor, the dual motor setup of the Ioniq aims to top it by producing approximately 600 hp. Furthermore, the torque figures of the Hyundai are expected to exceed that of the Kia’s capacity of 564 lb-ft. In order to ensure these specifications are met, Hyundai’s specialized engineering team within their Performance N division will be tweaking numerous components of the Ioniq 5.
The focal point on potency may likely cost range, the details of which still exist obscure. Nonetheless, we can examine other products for an insight into the N’s scope once it is revealed. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the dual-motor long-range Ioniq 5 offers up to 256 miles in range and the Kia EV6 GT provides up to 206 miles. Unique features, including a specific drift mode, will make it difficult for users to be mindful while accelerating.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is set to arrive sometime in 2023 and the exact date has yet to be confirmed. This isn’t the first glimpse we’ve had of the car, which implies that it is inching ever closer to being unveiled. We’d much rather see it on the market in the opening months of the year, however at this point, we are entirely subject to Hyundai’s timescale. If it appears in time for this year, a launch might take place earlier in 2024. We look forward to seeing this model given more exposure in future announcements.
