Long Wait Over: Infiniti to Launch Upgraded QX80 Soon!

Upgraded Since ’10: A Look at the Existing Framework

On March 20 at 7 pm EST, the highly anticipated 2025 Infiniti QX80 will finally be unveiled. This reveal will take place ahead of the 2024 New York International Auto Show, which will be open to the public from March 29 to April 7. But before the official unveiling, Infiniti has decided to tease fans with glimpses of the new QX80 through a series of teaser videos. The first episode, titled “QX80 Artistry in Motion Episode 1,” has already been released on the company’s YouTube channel.

The article opens with a familiar message displayed on a dark screen: “before new models are revealed they are often hidden behind wraps to make them invisible. But we believe Infiniti’s artistry in motion is too extraordinary to remain completely hidden.” The focus then shifts to Kaoru Tanaka, the generative artist responsible for creating the camouflage wrap. As Tanaka discusses artistic elements, the camera zooms in on detailed shots of the QX80.

The All-New INFINITI QX80 | Artistry in Motion | Episode 1

The teaser video for the car did not provide much information, which is to be expected, but Infiniti did share seven pictures of the vehicle that we can scrutinize further. The upcoming QX80 is expected to bear a strong resemblance to the QX Monograph Concept, which was displayed at Pebble Beach in the previous year. Although Infiniti had not officially confirmed at the time that the concept would serve as the basis for the next iteration of the QX80, the glimpses offered in this teaser suggest that the QX Monograph was a close representation of the finished product.

Several elements from the concept will be incorporated into the final version of the QX80, such as sleek LED headlights, a linked taillight strip, and seamless door handles. These additions bring a fresh touch to the Infiniti brand. The headlights will also showcase an impressive animation and a revamped Infiniti logo, which underwent a redesign just last year.

Despite receiving frequent updates, such as the addition of a new Dark Chrome Appearance Package in 2024, the QX80 remains outdated compared to other full-size luxury SUVs in its class. The QX80 was first introduced for the 2011 model year (known as the QX56 at the time) and has since undergone facelifts in 2015 and 2018 to maintain its appeal. It is uncertain whether Infiniti will continue to utilize the 5.6-liter V8 engine that has been in use since the original QX56 debuted in 2004. However, Nissan does not have many other suitable engines for this type of vehicle.

Despite not being revealed in the teaser, Infiniti has officially announced that the QX80 will be equipped with a 24-Speaker Klipsch sound system, which was also recently featured in the Ram 1500 Tungsten. In addition to the upgraded audio system, the QX80 is expected to receive a significant dose of advanced technology to elevate its competitiveness against rivals such as the Lexus LX and Cadillac Escalade.
