After a meticulous and arduous teaser campaign, the much-anticipated second iteration of the Macan will make its debut on January 25. Porsche’s international website recently made a subtle announcement without revealing any additional information. Nevertheless, all the official sneak peeks have showcased a comprehensive rundown of technical features and a detailed view of the heavily screen-centric interior.
It is improbable that the Macan EV will be available for purchase alongside the traditional gasoline-powered version in European Union nations. Reports indicate that Porsche may be required to halt production of their ICE model due to upcoming cybersecurity regulations being implemented in the EU later this year. This could result in the discontinuation of the gasoline-fueled version of the vehicle.
This implies that consumers will be restricted to the all-electric version, which boasts a maximum power output of 603 hp and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm). It will mark Porsche’s debut on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform, developed jointly with Audi who is also set to release their own variations: Q6 E-Tron and Q6 E-Tron Sportback.
Anticipate these sports utility vehicles to come equipped with all-wheel drive using two motors, along with air suspension, rear-wheel steering, dual-valve shock absorbers, and a plethora of other impressive features. Additionally, Porsche has verified the inclusion of an electronic locking differential in the back, a robust 100-kWh battery pack, a maximum charging power of 270 kW, wider tires than its gasoline counterpart, and a balanced weight distribution of 48:52.
The second generation of the Volkswagen T-Roc Convertible will not be produced.Despite its popularity among customers, Volkswagen has announced that there will be no follow-up to the T-Roc Convertible. This decision comes as a surprise to many, as the convertible SUV market continues to grow in demand.Although the T-Roc Convertible received positive reviews and strong sales during its first year on the market, Volkswagen has decided to discontinue its production. The reason for this move is speculated to be due to the brand’s shift towards electric vehicles and a desire to focus on more profitable models. Many customers and fans have expressed disappointment at the news, as the T-Roc Convertible was praised for its unique design and driving experience. However, it seems that the brand has prioritized efficiency and profit over producing a second generation.Volkswagen’s decision also raises questions about the future of the convertible SUV market. With the T-Roc Convertible out of the picture, it is uncertain whether other brands will continue to invest in this type of vehicle or if they too will pivot towards electric options. For those who were interested in purchasing the T-Roc Convertible, there is still time to do so before it disappears from the market. The last batch of units is expected to
It may seem perplexing to some that Volkswagen has approved a convertible model of the T-Roc compact crossover. Despite this, the sales numbers for VW’s only cabriolet have not been abysmal. In fact, it was the second most popular vehicle with a retractable roof in Europe during the first 11 months of 2023. A total of 11,693 cars were purchased on the continent, placing the T-Cross convertible just behind the Mini Convertible in terms of sales.
Despite this, it is still not sufficient to justify the creation of a successor model. The spiritual follower of the Golf Convertible will not be given the opportunity to have a second iteration. During the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, the head of development at VW announced that the upcoming T-Roc, set to debut next year, will not give birth to another convertible version. With this newly revealed discontinuation, it signifies that the VW brand will no longer have a convertible offering, after having discontinued the Eos hardtop model in 2016.
The T-Roc, a vehicle with only a crossover configuration, will be one of the final Volkswagen models to utilize combustion engines. This decision was made by the Wolfsburg-based brand, as they have promised to transition entirely to electric vehicles in Europe by 2033. Essentially an SUV adaptation of the Golf, this model will be built on the MQB Evo platform, which is also expected to be used in the upcoming mid-cycle update for the hatchback. This architecture has previously been used for the larger Tiguan, as well as the wagon-only Passat.
