N Performance Add-Ons Unveiled for Hyundai’s Ioniq 5

Hyundai Ioniq 5 NPX1 Concept Steals the Show at Tokyo Auto Salon with Bold Carbon Design

Hyundai recently unveiled the NPX1 version of the Ioniq 5 Concept at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, giving us a glimpse of the comprehensive range of N Performance Parts that will soon be accessible to N customers around the world. This selection of high-performance components will also be made accessible for all N-branded vehicles. Moreover, Hyundai has announced the production of customized tuning parts crafted specifically for the Ioniq 5 N variant.

The racing division of the well-known South Korean manufacturer has not held back in developing the N Performance Parts series for their latest model, the Ioniq 5 NPX1 Concept. This impressive lineup boasts a variety of gear that can easily match BMW’s M Performance Parts designed for their newly released M2 and M3 models. The initial highlight is the utilization of lightweight carbon fiber wheels with a hybrid design. In addition, various carbon fiber add-ons such as a front splitter, rear diffuser, side skirts, and wing spoiler have been incorporated into the design.

The enhancements of these N Performance Parts go beyond just upgrading the appearance, as they feature performance brake pads and lowering springs to enhance the Ioniq 5 N’s handling and stability. It should be noted that the Ioniq 5 N already boasts the most powerful regen brakes found in any car on the market, capable of 0.6G of deceleration without even needing to engage the friction brakes.

The interior of the Ioniq 5 N is undoubtedly a standout feature, boasting unique design elements and premium materials. However, the NPX1 Concept takes it to the next level with its inclusion of sporty racing seats and luxurious Alcantara upholstery.

To enhance personalization, the software will be tailored to create richer sound effects for the N Active Sound+ feature. Furthermore, new vehicle calibrations will be introduced through an OTA update for added functionality.

“In 2024, Hyundai Motor Company will solidify its position as a pioneer in cutting-edge tuning parts designed for the emerging high-performance EV era, as showcased by the revolutionary ‘NPX1’ concept model,” states Joon Park, the Vice President of the N Brand. “Our focus extends beyond just tuning parts, as we are also actively working on software customization through over-the-air updates, including sound and vehicle calibration. This will introduce a whole new realm of EV customization, paving the way for an exhilarating future for the tuning community.”

The components included in this idea are currently prototypes, however Hyundai assures that they will undergo further development before their launch in 2024. These parts will soon be available for all Hyundai N models, including the Elantra N locally and the i30 N and i20 N hot hatches globally. The upcoming Hyundai Kona N is also expected to have its own selection of N Performance parts.
